Park Bus Stop Unfairness....

:wizard: I don't see where the OP says it ruined her vacation- just that it was frustrating. I can see why it would frustrate someone. Your paying $300 + per night and your going to be inconvenienced for someone who is paying a lot less? It's supposed to make this easier for you when you spend the extra money. I know that upsets the Value Resort lovers (nothing against it- just not for me) but it's a fact. You pay for better service, I don't think being frustrated at a lack of this service is a problem. What is it they say? Don't hate the playa hate the game? I don't let stuff like that get to me, but attacking the OP like that, it's just wrong, and shows that maybe some on this board are a little oversensative about things. We're all in it to have fun and share the house that Walt built. :sunny:

Well, you see...the issue is twofold here. First, I don't think that anyone paid $300 plus per night to stay at WL. It's one of the cheaper deluxes just for the reason that it's transportation options are not as good as other deluxes. Then, you have the 'value' vs 'deluxe' issue going on. Other than the ability to walk, take a boat, or take the monorail to a park, the deluxes aren't based on transportation services. You pay the extra for a deluxe for those services, not for closer bus stops. Yes, most times these resorts are closer but that's simply because they were there first! AKL doesn't have front of the line bus stops, neither does WL. Do not chose a resort based on where you are going to pick up the bus for your return to your resort. It just isn't a good idea.

I have actually gotten the best bus service at AllStar Music and POP. Yes, the stops are a bit further away at the actual parks, but the buses come more frequently!!! And to be honest, what is the big deal with walking about 50 more steps in the course of a day?

It's because it was the last value resort built. The stops are in order of cost. The most expensive resorts have the closest bus stops and the least expensive are the furthest away. Check it out next time. You'll see deluxes are closest (with WL and WK at the end of that section) then the Mods, then the values.

At MK, the bus stop for BW/Swan/Dolphin is at the end of the bus zone---only Pop is further. It was not a big deal for me to walk further than people who are staying at less expensive resorts. After seeing the huge line for Pop after the MK's extra magic hours night, I was grateful to have a relatively short wait to get to BW.

Nothing I said was meant as a slam on those who could not afford to stay at the Deluxe resort, it was a simple statement of why I am willing to pay that price, if you are not able to, that's not anything I care about remotely. You took a simple statement and made it into a slam...and then totally insulted me. I think you are the one who needs to maybe chill out.

Why do you assume people stay in the values because they can't afford a Deluxe resort? :confused3

I stay at Pop Century because we only use the room to shower and sleep. I have no desire to spend a day lounging by the pool or in a hot tub. We go to WDW for the parks and the food. :dance3:

The GF may be out of my reach, but the WL and AKL aren't.

My income doesn't dictate which resort I pick, my vacation style does.

I am not sure how this turned into a Deluxe vs. Value debate, but I would ask - do you book Motel 6 and expect Ritz Carlton accomodations? no, that would be silly. I choose to spend my money on a Deluxe resort because I want service, the OP obviously had the nerve to not realise that the Value Resorts should have the best of everything and us "snobs" who choose to spend our vacation money on a nicer resort should just hire a sherpa to get us to the parks, because after all, who are we to think spending more money should equal better service, we are clearly elitist snobs, and much like the French Revolution the poor staving masses at the value resorts will rise up against us... good heavens people get a grip, it's a vacation, the OP had a question based on something she thought, and you all act like she killed someone. get over it!

For the poster who mentioned better bus service for the "deluxe" resorts, you couldn't be more off base.

We just stayed at the GF and remarked on the poor bus service with long waits and shared bus service with the CR & Poly. POP gets its own bus as do the mods and the value buses seemed to be coming by twice as often as a GF/CR/Poly bus did.

When I first visited WDW I didn't understand why the driver dropped us off somewhere other than "our" bus stop. Then I started coming to the DIS and read why it happened. Perhaps the OP didn't understand that the drivers might be dropping you off from WL, but picking up folks staying at POP or somewhere else. Perhaps they thought that by paying a higher price for accomodations, that their transportation to a closer bus stop was included, even though that is not usually the case. Can we give them the benefit of the doubt?

I've been to Disney World 9 times in my life and I have to say...I've never noticed where my bus picks up in comparison to other hotels!!!! It's never even crossed my mind! I just look for the sign and get in line!!! :rotfl2:

Good for you- spend your money on whatever you want, but don't criticize me because I choose to spend my money on a nice hotel - oh and we do the parks and mostly TS meals, and my children have plenty of spending money, but I'm in no means wealthy, I don't live a lavish lifestyle, I just choose this as an important part of my vacation. Income doesn't always dictate accomodations, again, I don't care where you stay, I was commenting on why I choose the resort I choose, as it had everything to do with what the OP was saying. People need to move on from the resort issue. Vacation away and enjoy your trips to WDW, I do. I was replying to those who criticised and attacked me for suggesting that spending more money for better service was snobbish.

I look at having to walk far to or from a bus stop as a reason to have another Mickey Bar. I'm getting more exercise than I normally would, therefore, I consume some extra calories! :cool1:

Let's put the flames out :furious: and remember...It's a small world after all... ;)

It's a darn good thing I can't do that @ home on my regular morning walks!

Ok, I have to admit, I never noticed either, too excited to be there, but I felt bad for the OP, almost everyone was being really nasty, and it had to stop.

"Snobbish" isn't so much about what one says, but how one says it...

When you are in mixed company, like one is on a message board like the DIS, it pays to think about how you put things sometimes.

It's like the difference between :

"I prefer deluxes because I like to take advantage of the extra resort amenities."

and

"OMG! I could never stay anywhere but a deluxe! How do people do it?"

I'm not attributing either statement to you, but just trying to illustrate the point.

The OP admittedly was being a bit snobbish, when the facts of the matter are that when it comes to how busses are dispatched, it doesn't matter if you are staying at FW Campground or the Grand Floridian; the bus goes to whatever it's next needed pick-up is for SAFTEY issues : otherwise they'd be all dropping off at the same place and starting/stopping more and increasing the likelyhood of issues.

Again, as I said before, if the OP had started a thread saying, "Gee, I really didn't like how the bus doesn't drop you off at the front," we wouldn't be having this discussion.

This is EXACTLY how we feel. Its not that I can't "afford" a Deluxe, its that we spend the majority of our days and evenings (and nights!) at the parks and not at the resort. We stay at ASMo because we love the theme and the fact that we get a GREAT value. The beds are comfortable, the water is hot, and we have enough towels. That's all we need in our resort so we are VERY happy to spend our money on food, souveniers, and other fun Disney things as opposed to the resort. Others may feel differently about what they want from their resort and you know what? Its ALL GOOD!!! :teeth:

Oh please, I didn't criticize you.

I was just pointing out that some people stay at the values because they want to, not because that's all they can afford.

See, you were not insulting, just stated your point plainly, and it was received. The problem is we are typing, and to try and read someone elses opinion, then react is difficult, especially when people are clearly so sensative about a subject. I am one of those people who just goes on vacation to have fun, I follow the rules, try to be considerate of other vacationers, never have 2 ressies for the same date/time "just in case" , my kids don't wear heeleys. ect ect, and we love it! It's all about everyone coming together in one place and having fun. That's all.

What question ? I didnt see any real question. I saw someone very upset that her $$$ didnt buy her a better bus service, on top of a better room and monorail access, just to name a few. She said it was UNFAIR.It was such an injustice that because of these peasants from the cheap hotels she had to walk a few more steps to the entrance.

She was rude and snobby and it's no wonder people got offended.

It was a general remark about being criticized, since you were discussing my point about staying at values, I was criticized by others.Lets stop this now, I am unsubscribing so please, no more....I beg you....it's gotten absurd.
