Wow, after the browbeating a lot of you gave the OP. he/she will probably not post again. I don't think you guys had to be quite that mean....... :sad2:

People weren't mean. They were honest with their feelings on the matter. I think if someone puts in their own post that they know it sounds petty or snobbish, they have a good expectation of what the responses may be.

:wizard: I don't see where the OP says it ruined her vacation- just that it was frustrating. I can see why it would frustrate someone. Your paying $300 + per night and your going to be inconvenienced for someone who is paying a lot less? It's supposed to make this easier for you when you spend the extra money. I know that upsets the Value Resort lovers (nothing against it- just not for me) but it's a fact. You pay for better service, I don't think being frustrated at a lack of this service is a problem. What is it they say? Don't hate the playa hate the game? I don't let stuff like that get to me, but attacking the OP like that, it's just wrong, and shows that maybe some on this board are a little oversensative about things. We're all in it to have fun and share the house that Walt built. :sunny:

Nicely Said, I also agree with the original op. I take a lot into cosideration when choosing my resort stay and to be quite honest transportation is a big part of my planning. Service is Service and quite frankly she has a point.

I also agree with OP and you, and I have stayed at CR once and POP twice...

Oh and i will always enjoy myself, but i will not suck it up!!!! :rotfl:

will be at Disney this Dec 4-10 at WL :cheer2:

FYI, all transportation modes operate that way, for the most part. It's based on the same theory that airlines use. You can't get a plane that will take you directly from your home base to any place you want directly. That would require about a hundred thousand planes.

Every bus run is spelled out, even city buses, will go one place this time and a completely different place the next time. It's the only way to insure that all routes are covered in a timely manner. For example, suppose they only had one bus for WL and you just missed it because you lingered at breakfast or had to go back to your room for a missing ticket. Let's further suppose that the bus after leaving WL made it a couple of miles and had an engine breakdown. If that were the only bus that serviced WL you might well spend a couple of hours waiting for it to return. Having a different bus for the next trip insures that it will be close to on time to pick up the rest of you. It's the only way that it can work consistently. Even that doesn't always work because the bus that is assigned to go to WL next might breakdown itself but the likelihood of two problems is much less than one.

Also the location of bus stops for any resort is absolutely random anyway. WL's stop could just have easily been in the back and Pop's been in the front. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you. I hope that helps explain the situation and makes the frustration less.

:scratchin

And there are other transportation options, some mentioned already. From WL you can take a ferry to the MK, but goodness, sometimes it stops at Fort Wilderness, not always *before* WL. And there used to be a bus to the TTC, so you could choose either the ferry or the monorail to MK. There may even be a boat to the Contemporary, where you could walk to the MK, not too much farther than the buses, but oops that's too far.

Go back and read the posts.....some were mean spirited.

When we were there in late August we noticed something frustrating. We stayed at WL and when we would arrive at the parks via bus, the bus would OFTEN stop at one of the POP bus stations, which was often number 13 or so, and tell us when we return to go to bus stop number 2 or 3! (because number 2 or 3 was the REAL WL stop). We got frustrated having to walk from far away stops to the park entrance just because our bus was about to turn into a POP bus and needed to be at that station to pick up POP people. It probably sounds petty or snobbish, but part of our choosing a deluxe resort was the transportation perks. Have any of you experienced this? Does it happen frequently or did I get a bad week?

I'm sorry you were frustrated with the Transportation issues at WDW. Unfortunatly when you get hundreds of thousands of people all together in one area you have transportation issues no matter how well Disney plans things. If you are looking for transportation perks in a resort you need to try a monorail resort next time. This only helps with MK and Epcot but hopefully you will have a better experience.

yeah, but the fact is the OP did not ask for opinions, she asked
1. Have you ever experienced this--yes or no question and
2. does it happen often? again, yes or no question.
she said she was frustrated, not ready to write off the whole trip, so yeah the comments made to her with everyone's honest feelings on the manner were mean, and unnecessary. especially because she didn't say her post was petty or snobbish, she said that about choice of resort. to the OP, I get what your saying. I just learned something new as well, I thought a resort bus was assigned to that resort, I never knew they switch assignments sometimes after one run is over. That is why the DIS is great, we find out new stuff everyday.

Let them eat cake huh!! The above statement so enraged me! Just because I can't always stay at a Deluxe doesn't make me a second class citizen. It just means I can't afford as nice a place as I'd like to stay, that has nothing to do with transportation. Busses are offered as a standard service to everyone that stays on property. It doesn't matter which resort or how much you paid. The drop off is not guaranteed at a particular place, if you assumed this well thats your own fault, not the people who paid less for a room. In all honesty the bus stops are dedicated to a resort for pick up only, they can drop off anywhere!! And as for paying more for a room the best busses I've had have been at the All Stars and some of the worst were at WL. So take your hoity toity *** and shove it!!!

Where did you acquire the "knowledge" that Deluxe resorts offer their guests the shortest walks between bus stops and park entrances?

If THAT is one of the reasons you paid extra for a Deluxe, then my most helpful suggestion for the future is to ask more questions on the DISboards and read more posts, so that you make the best possible informed decisions. Facts beat assumptions any day.

And by the way, for my last stay last May, I stayed at a moderate, CBR. At MK, we were one of the closest bus stops, on an end (with Seven Seas Lagoon to your right, the CBR bus stop was the first stop on the row closest to Seven Seas Lagoon). At Epcot, we were I think the very farthest bus stop from the entrance -- I'm not certain we were still in Florida. At MGM, we were pretty close to the entrance but not the closest. At AK, we were pretty far from the entrance but not the farthest.

From those facts, I just assumed that every resort had a sort of mixed bag of distances between bus stops and park entrances.

And for the record, when I stay at a Moderate resort, I don't feel entitled to ANY service over and above the folks staying at Value Resorts, except of course for the amenities in/of the resort I'm staying at.

I own a nice house, but I live in a resort town with multi-million dollar beach front and bayfront homes. The owners of those homes pay much more in property taxes than I do. I don't think that means that my kids should get lower-grade school bus service than the kids who live on the beach or the bay.

It does happen.

It appears you chose a "deluxe" resort for the wrong reason. Transportation "perks" are open to all guests. No where does it say you get "dropped off at the first stop.

(Personally I can't believe you thought this was something to complain about and I can't believe I am spending time responding! LOL! )

I totally agree.

Disney's value and mod resorts are a total bargain. You get so many perks (Disney themeing, Disney transportation, and EMH)
Any of Disney's resort guests (even those staying at a value or mod) are allowed to shop, dine, use the transportation or spa facilities at any of the Disney Resorts. (Of course pool hopping is not allowed.)

Disney does charge a premium price for their Deluxe resorts.
Disney's deluxe guests are paying for location and amenities not for stellar customer service.

This has been a tough one to read. While I thought the OP's post was a bit eccentric, I didn't agree with the berating posts that followed. I think you pay for your resort ... that is to say ... your room, available services at that resort etc., not the bus service. That is a straight accross the board service to every Disney guest, regardless of one's resort choice. I cannot tell you how many times I have thought to myself when reading the DIS that people complain about the most inane things. I consider myself lucky to simply be there! If a person looks hard enough, of course they will find things that are less than perfect, but I think at Disney, you really have to be looking. I think we all have to be a little nicer to posters ... you can get the same idea accross without being rude. But I also think that people need to lighten up a bit and realize just how lucky they are to be there. Yes, maybe those that stay at WL spent large quantities of money, but it's all relative, isn't it? Because a family with a smaller income can only afford the value resorts, should they be penalized by having a lesser quality of service from a transportation system that was meant to serve all WDW guests?

Well.. I will say.. When I have taken that long long extra long walk back to the bus stop for the Values .. I always tell my husband.. oh I am so jealous of those Deluxe people that get to stay at the extra nice places.. they don't even have to walk very far coming back to their bus stop!!! So.. it could be that the op thought that when she booked her trip..

Come one people.. she is a diser.... lets treat her like we want to be treated...

Is there a team of you out there that just likes to hop on OPs for posting something they didn't find enjoyable at Disney World? :sad2: If you have nothing to add to the thread and don't have an answer to the OPs question, don't post.

Perhaps I should clarify. Last year I noticed that the deluxes have the first few bus stop stations. Last year we mainly did MK and Epcot and were at the Poly so the couple of times we ventured to the other two parks, we actually WERE dropped off at our 'real' stop, as well as picked up there when leaving. So yes, I assumed that part of a deluxe 'perk' was closer bus stops, especially since the stops are all labeled, and as I said, last year I noticed that deluxes were the first few stop stations.

This year we toured all four parks more equally and weren't at a monorail resort so we spent more time on the buses, and this is where I noticed getting dropped off at another resort's stop, yet told to report to the 'real' WL bus stop when we wanted to leave. It truly made no sense to me to be dropped off at a stop other than WL's.

Of course all the transportation is for anyone with a park ticket....onsite guest or offsite guest. What I was confused about was why we were so often dropped off at a stop that wasn't our own.

Did it ruin my trip? No. Was it frustrating? Yes, because I wasn't expecting it and I didn't understand it and as someone else mentioned, we were raring to go and when you're excited and ready to go, being dropped so far from your own bus stop is a bit aggravating.

Oh yea, that's especially true on the News and Rumors board. It's like people you meet in everyday life.....not happy unless they are knocking someone. Niceness should be upon us here at Disboards. :)

I guess we are just sooooooo spoiled. I don't even know where they dropped us off. All I know is we are being dropped off at the Happiest Place on earth. I don't even care if they drop us off at the very end, we will be walking that park the whole day anyway. What's another yard or so.

I hope that didn't ruin your vacation.

I agree. The past few years we have stayed at All Stars. They are at the end of the bus line up but I figured for the lower price of the room that the extra distance was fair. (Just as I would have assumed that paying more for a room would get me a closer bus stop.)

Sometimes the All Star busses were left off at a different stop but since it was always closer I thought the driver was just being nice! I didn't think about the bus switching to a different route.

I would have been frustrated if it happened more than a couple of times to me.
