park admission needed for illuminations cruise?

I'm thinking of springing for an illuminations cruise for my extended family (meeting up at the boardwalk for dinner) but they don't have park tickets. Is it necessary for the cruise?

No...the IllumiNations cruise goes out from the dock at BC/YC.

We took an Illuminations cruise leaving from the Boardwalk. You don't need park tickets, the pilot will return you to the dock where your cruise originated.

FYI, the cruises no longer depart from BoardWalk, all 6 boats (5 pontoons and Breathless) depart from Bayside Marina at the Yacht Club. You can be dropped off at any open dock.
