Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been released from jail after serving just three full days of her sentence.

But she will be kept under house arrest and must wear an electronic tag for another 40 days.

The decision was made as a result of a medical problem, but officials refused to give details of the condition.

When Hilton was originally sentenced to 45 days for violating probation on a drink-driving conviction, she was told there was no prospect of early release.

The sentence was later cut in half after being given credit for good behaviour.

Hilton has now been "reassigned" to house arrest 20 days before her revised jail term was due to end.

She will be "confined to her home" and must wear an ankle bracelet, according to Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

He said she would not be allowed out for parties or social functions.

Her full sentence - including the house arrest - has now reverted to the original 45 days.

Rest is on BBC.co.uk news pages...

That's an awesome message to send out to the youth of America.

I know she had her 'psychiatrist' visit her, oh, what it must be like to have that sort of money that gets you off of serious charges!

This is just laughable! She should be made an example of and no matter who she is - she did the crime .......

It's terrible that she is under house arrest in her multi million pound mansion with everything that you could ever need isn't it, how on earth will she cope with it! ;)

All the hype over the last few weeks and she's out in 3 days. I'm sure as she isn't allowed to go to parties or social functions for the next 45 days the parties can come to her.

AWWWW I was looking forward to her coming out looking all beaten up.. :lmao:

I dislike the fact she said she had a Medical Condition and Didn't say.. It sounds too much like an exuse. If you ask me her medical condition is that she lost her brain awhile back! :rotfl2:

She will be using the time under house arrest to write a book about her 'terrible time' in prison no doubt. I wonder who will make her tag Gucci or Versace :rotfl:

I bet all the partys & gathering will be done at her place, which just goes to show money does talk and it's not what you know it's who you know that that gets results when you have money. :confused3

She has been let out because she was suicidal , any one else would have been put on suicide watch .
I recken it's withdrawal syptoms from the brooze & partying and realising this is the real world she's in now. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Said on the news this AM that the judge is not amused and has ordered her back to court this today intending to send her back in.

All good material for her book :confused3

Yes I heard that she is going back too. Apparently she had already organised a welcome home party for herself for tongight - I guess she will have to cancel! Shame that!

Am not surprised, didn't think for one minute she would be in there very long

Ridiculous. What was also ridiculous was the amount of time spend on this on the US tv when we were there.

I still think she is a total waste of space.

Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been taken from court screaming after being ordered to return to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence.

After the decision by Supreme Court Judge Michael Sauer, Hilton, who left jail early Thursday after spending just three days behind bars, wailed "Mom, Mom, it's not right" as she was escorted from the Los Angeles courtroom by sheriff's deputies.

Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car, entered the courtroom dishevelled and crying. Her hair was askew and she wore a grey fuzzy sweatshirt over dark trousers.

The party girl - who was given a jail term after being caught driving her Bentley without a valid licence, a violation of her probation for a prior drunken-driving offence - wore no makeup and cried throughout the hearing.

Her body also shook constantly as she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents who were seated behind her in the courtroom and mouthed the words: "I love you."

Hilton's early release from her cell at Los Angeles County Jail's Lynwood lockup on Thursday morning for unspecified medical reasons infuriated Judge Sauer and sparked outrage in the US.

Judge Sauer told the court on Friday: "I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions. At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home on Kings Road."

He earlier ordered her back to court, under sheriff's escort, to determine whether she should go back to jail. She emerged from her four-bedroom, three-bathroom Hollywood Hills mansion wearing sunglasses and stopped to hug friends before getting into the police car.

As it attempted to get through hoards of awaiting paparazzi, a tannoy blasted "Move out of the way, Move out of the way" at the crowds of snappers and onlookers. (yahoo! news)

Well thank goodness for that, she should be punished just like everybody else, and the thought of her having parties at her house for the next 40 days was beyond crazy, well done judge!:thumbsup2
