I’m not going to reply to this because this thread has been sidetracked enough already. I’m looking forward to the opening ceremonies tomorrow night! I always like seeing how the torch gets lit. My favourite was the arrow which I believe was in Albertville.

If the Opening Ceremonies are supposedly the start of the Olympics, why are some sports already taking place prior to that? I never understood how that makes any sense. Can't they figure out how to schedule ALL events AFTER the Opening Ceremonies???.............LOL.

There are many Games that have sports start before the opening ceremonies. It is the only way to complete the schedule in the time given.

It wasn’t the lighting, but I enjoyed the Queen and James Bond in London.

Yes, I'm watching the opening ceremonies, live, on Peacock! I love this opening ceremony, it seems like all of Paris is celebrating these athletes!!

I turned off the live Opening Ceremonies. The boat parade of athletes was fun at first but quickly grew boring. Lady Gaga was good.

Then they suddenly stop the boat parade and have a bunch of pre recorded crap mixed in with mediocre cultural junk.

It's like a movie - very cool I think. The mysterious stranger with the torch - who will it be? Surely some major French sports hero, but the way they are building it up is fun.

Man, did they just ruin the Jules Verne/Georges Méliès segment with Minions? I guess it's hard to fill four hours....
