Parents of teens... Do your kids like Country music or Classic Rock?

I just read an article that said 20% of all CDs of Led Zeppelin, Beatles, and Pink Floyd are being purchased by teenage boys.

I also read that country music is listened to by a lot more teen girls than I would have guessed.

My 15 year old DD likes both. She has friends who like country so she gets that from them, because no one else in this house listen to it. I have a Time-Life classics of rock cd set that she put on her I-pod and listens to that too.

My DD loves both classic rock and pop music. She cannot stand country.

My dd17 likes both, but really is a big fan of classic rock (I raised her well). In her words, the rockers of my generation make better music - the ones of her generation are nicer to look at. Can't argue with her there!

My 14 year old DD likes a lot of country--hard to know why, because I can't stand it. She also likes a lot of classic rock stuff. A while ago she came in the family room and said "That Wheel in the Sky is really a great song!" DH and I about fell over laughing.
Of course she also gets exposed to my weirder stuff when she listens to MY itunes--all 3 of my kids can sing "They're Coming to Take Me Away", and she likes "Fishheads".
Sometimes I even like a song of hers, like "The Reason", or "Dirty Little Secret", or "Vacation", or some Green Day. Now if I could only get her to stop listening to CRAP like "I'm in Love with a Stripper" and "My Humps" (which did get deleted, BTW).

My DS 16 loves classic rock, as well as current stuff, of course.

NO ONE in my house likes country.

DD13 (poisoned apple) does know who Garth Brooks is now, though, after getting an answer wrong when playing a board game recently.

DD (17) likes classic rock and some current pop. She spends most of her time listening to Enya, Celtic music and movie soundtracks.

My teens like classic rock. I think it may have something to do with a Beatles obsessed dad and a mom with Led Zep's Kashmir as her cell ringtone...

The also like more current rock. Very similar tastes in our house.

My ds is 10, not a teen, but listens to pretty much all classic rock. If you look at my signature pic, you may see where his influence has come from.

My DD, 19 is a closet country music listener. I love country music so she grew up listening to it but she won't admit it to fer friends. As for the other music she likes, I think it is just plain scary.

My teen girls listen to country all the time...mainly because I do! They like the maistream country, Tim and Faith, Keith Urban, Martina McBride and stuff like that. They are into much more top 40 type music though.

I am a 16 yr old teen and am proud to say that I am a crazed HUGE fan of Def Leppard!!! My uncle took my brother and I to their concert over their summer and I can proudly say that now I can sing just about every word to just about every song on their Rock of Ages and Hysteria!

Nope, but I do. I'm 99% in love with Toby Keith. 100% in love with my husband, of course.

And I like the classic rock, of course. What is that song that says, "When did Motley Crue become classic rock?" I love that song.

The kids hate the "hillbillies" and groan about the classic rock songs. They have no taste. The songs today stink.

You should get their "High and Dry" album. It's their best, and Def Leppard is my favorite band from back then. I am a child of the 80's.

Had a 20 year crush on Jon Bon Jovi, and then Toby Keith came along...
