Parents of teens... Do your kids like Country music or Classic Rock?

When my teenager is in love he has Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks playing.
During the break-up stage, we have the loud boom-boom music going. I would guess that to be Rock?

I love country. Just the new stuff though.. Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Sugarland..
I dont listen to anything other than country anymore.

We have 2 DSs-ages 16 and 17.

Classic rock hands down.

we are lucky, DS17 likes everything, pop, country, classical, opera(when he was younger), classic rock, Gilbert & Sullivan, songs from Animaniacs & Monty Python, English/Scots/Welsh/Irish traditional...
He really is into bagpiping & martial music, do you know what hours of stereo pounding bagpiping sound like? :teeth:
he does not like rap

If he likes bagpipes and rock, have him take a look at this site. DD loves it!

My 17 yo son and 20 year daughter old both like classic rock and not country. They also like a variety of other stuff (daughter is a music major), but not country. My 18 year old niece, however, loves country!

18 year old DD is a huge country music fan. The only concerts she has been to are country singers/groups.

15 year old DD can't stand country music.

Their i-pod playlists are worlds apart!

16 DS loves classic hard rock/metal. We fight over my AC/DC, Areosmith, Rob Zombie White Zombies (who we are actually goign to see in concert in 2 weeks) etc and his Black Sabbath etc.
He also loves a lot of current alternative Rock, which he has hooked me on. Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Murderdolls etc.

My 13 year old son like both country and classic rock among other music styles. He's not picky which is great for me. :)

My kids like both.

DD12 likes some country (Sugarland, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood) and some modern rock.

DD7 loves both country (she LOVES Kenny Rogers and most modern country) and classic rock (she sings along to "Hold On Loosely" when I blast it).

I am a classic rock fan all the way but work in the country music industry. I only listen to the modern crossover country stuff (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Garth). DH is a hard core country fan.

My son loves Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and digs country music. He likes older stuff like Willie and Johnny plus newer stuff. Heck he knows the words better then me and I am a huge country music fan. My husband loves LZ and PF. However we're both big fans of 80's and my son just does not like it. Go figure!

I just read an article that said 20% of all CDs of Led Zeppelin, Beatles, and Pink Floyd are being purchased by teenage boys.

I also read that country music is listened to by a lot more teen girls than I would have guessed.

I swear all teenage boys go through a Zeppelin/Floyd phase. My high school boyfriend and all his buddies went through it, and the teenage boys I work with now are going through it at present.

Thank God -- I was starting to worry I had the only kid that listened to this stuff!

My dd, 15, loves country which is weird because I can't stand it--her stepmom listens to it. She also loves rap and pop. I can't decide which grates on my nerves more blasting out of her room--the country or the rap. :rotfl2:

She's pretty eclectic, though. She also loves to listen to Disney cd's with me, Eric Clapton, the Beatles, Journey, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, the Kingston Trio, and even show tunes (she's in choir.)

My 17 year old son seems to like all music. He listens to classic rock and country, bagpipes, you name it. The other day I was driving his car, with him beside me and I turned on the radio and was greeted with Led Zeppelin. We had a great talk about "back in the day". I love the fact that he likes the same music that I used to listen to.

My DS12 and DS15 both like classic rock, however my DS15's favorite song is "Redneck Yacht Club." I like country. We all listen to Christian Rock. They like Toby Mac, Casting Crowns, etc.

I am 15 and love country. Thats just about all I listen to (with the exception of Disney music and Bruce Springsteen). All my friends listen to country, too. It is very popular in my school. My cousins school, on the other hand, mostly listens to rap and that type of stuff. They refer to country as "hick music" :confused3 They just don't know whats good.
