Parents, did/do you use these?

shopping cart covers. The thought of putting little "Thor" in a germy shopping cart or
high chair is repellent to me. Maybe it's because I'm a 1st time mom, or because he was so sick when he was born. I was wondering if these are a good thing or of they make me look like an over protective mom?

Never used them...never heard of them.

But if it makes you feel better, who cares what anybody else thinks? Go for it!

I used them w/ DS-didn't care what anybody else thought! But w/ DD I didn't though she was my first, I don't think they were around then other wise I probably would have!!

I see moms use them all the time at Target. You won't be odd.

I have never used them with DD and she has only been sick once in her life. :) She has actually put her mouth on the shopping cart handle! Of course I stopped her right away. :p

If it makes you feel better go for it! :teeth:

I always take a wipe with me and wash the cart handle-even
when I'm alone. I hate those germy carts! I personally think
grocery stores are some of the most germ laden spots on earth!
I wash my hands as soon as I get home then put the groceries
away and wash them again. Use the cover, they weren't available
when DS was riding in the cart.

Never used them, but if they make you feel more comfortable, I would say, try them.

Never used them either.

they didn't have them available when my kids were born, and like Jenn Lynn had caught both my kids chewing on the handle!

And, they were fine... but if it makes you feel better go for it!

I used it with our 3rd DD....I feel exactily like you do! I couldn't stand the thought of those yecky germs touching my sweet baby!

I think they are so cute and cuddily looking!

Sonya,

I had one that I used for DD until she was about 2. It was great because of the germs and also helped her fit in the cart better, she's really small. You'll find it really helpful when your DS starts teething, if he hasn't already. Unfortunately the shopping cart handle makes a perfect teether for them. I often see young children in carts chewing on the handle and it totally skeeves me. Your DS probably gets exposed to enough germs without adding to it unnecessarily.

Take care,

Kate

I have one and I love it. I do not use it so much anymore, but I will once the new baby is ready to sit up in a cart. They are very common around here and I don't think they make you look OVERprotective, just protective of a little immune system;)

I have never used them before but I have seen them around and thought about purchasing one for mine. I have caught my lil one chewing on the seat belt strap before. EWWWWW...... Anyhoo my kids are too old or should I say "big boys" now and they won't get in a shopping cart anymore.

:D Yes, we used one for ds and I loved it! It's really handy since it gives the baby a little extra support when sitting, seems a bit more comfortable since it's padded, plus has that nifty piece that covers the handle so the baby doesn't chew it. A pretty nifty baby gadget, imho ::yes:: .

I've had people stop me and ask where I purchased mine! It occupies the child nicely while keep them safe at the same time. It's not a purchase you'd regret.

One more vote for "Never heard of them, but if you feel better, go for it." And if anyone says you're silly for doing it, give 'em a Stone Cold Stunner :teeth:

I've never heard of shopping cart covers. They didn't exist when Travis was a baby, I don't think.

I've never seen them before either, what do they look like.
I have seen babies chewing on the hand rails and I think OOOOHHH how gross. Sometimes I don't even want to touch them myself.
My kids are 20 and 16 so they didn't have them then

I used one for my DDs. The one I had was a padded terrycloth type. I saw one the other day that was great--it covered the whole "seating" area on the cart. I think it really is a smart thing to do. I can't even imagine what is on those handles!

I must be old. I don't even know what they are. So I guess I can say I definitely didn't use them.;) Back when my DD was a baby, they didn't even have those carts with the little seats in them. Ah, progress...;)
