Parents' contract got bought up - ROFR

My parents had a contract for 200 VB points - with 200 banked points! - for $60 pp - they were paying 2003 maintenance fees and closing costs. I knew Disney would buy it back - but my Dad who really knows nothing about DVC except what I have tried to explain - says he's "never going to Disneyworld again and if they think I am going to buy from them they're crazy!" I tried to explain that this was essentially a good thing - because Disney does this keeps the re-sale market up and keeps your investment fairly sound...but he's stubborn.

Oh well - I was hoping I could help them spend their banked 200 points...Guess I'll have to buy my own VB points! The TSS said that HH and VB points under about $66 are typically getting bought up.

Wow, that was a sweet deal! No wonder Disney snapped it up!

I'm not sure I understand....is your father mad at Disney for exercising their ROFR??

That's a shame...I'm sure you probably warned him that the contract wouldn't go through. Sorry to hear that it caused such animosity towards Disney from your father.

Many of the Vero contracts are listed for less than $65. More like the $63 range and less. I wonder if Disney is buying all of them back?. Any Vero buyers out there that have offered more than the asking price for a resale?

I know - I just saw one for $62 I think - this one had been $62.50 and they had had to lower the price. I think it was the banked points that did it.

I am sorry to hear that. The old adage "if it sounds too good to be true..." kind of applies here I'm afraid.
I have a resale pending. How long had they been waiting since submission if you don't mind me asking? My sale price is higher but there are banked points involved.

Is there a 30 day limit? If so - it's been about exactly that. It seems longer, but it was probably right at 30 days.

It's disappointing since we only have 150 points (and always borrowing...), and we'll probably be moving next year for my husband's residency, so it would have been nice to combine trips with the grandparents on school vacations. He might come to realize there isn't a Disney conspiracy against him...but probably not!
