We have a trip planned May 4 -May 11th 2014. It'll be my husband and I, our two children, and my parents. I didn't realize until a few months after booking our trip this will also be my parent's 35th Wedding Anniversary. My mother never mentioned anything when we were booking so I never thought of it. So background: So 2 weeks before their 30th anniversary my parents canceled a week long trip to a B&B. My 3 month old daughter stopped breathiing one day and we discovered she had a congenial heart defect that required heart surgery. This was found out 2 weeks before their vacation. Without any hesitation my parents canceled their trip they had been planning for over a year. It'll be 5 years in May since her life saving heart surgery so we are going to WDW to celebrate. I want to do something nice for my parents. I having some challenges: First it needs to be a surprise so nothing that they would need to bring nice clothes. Second we are all sharing a room so nothing with room service. They don't like wine or champagne. And fourth, my Dad is NOT a disney fan he's only going for the grand-kids. I'm going to do a specialty cake on the 5th when we go to dinner at Teppan Edo. But do you have any other suggestions? Any way I can make this trip special for them? Their anniversary is the first day we are at disney:bitelip:

A couple of months before you go, contact Disney Guest Services and tell them what you just told us. Ask them if they could sprinkle a little "Pixie Dust" on your parents, like your parents did for you five yrs ago.

I bet that when finish your stay at WDW, your Dad will have had more fun than any of the rest of you. Us Granddads are big softies afterall; we just don't like to show it. :rotfl2:

What about booking a special tour for them? Something that one or both of them is interested in?

My dad is also not a huge Disney person and goes for the grandkids, but he loves trains. We were going to book teh Behind teh Steam Trains tour for the boys (him, my nephew, and my brother) to go on, but the age limit was too high for my nephew to go.

DH's dad also isn't a Disney person, nor does he like alcohol - so during our F&W visit we're sending him on the all day backstage magic tour..we'll go to F&W while he goes on teh tour. He was a contractor, so he loves the idea of learning all the backstage information.

DH and I did the Segway Around the World Showcase tour for our anniversary a few years ago and had an absolute blast.

Maybe you can find one that will fit your parents well?
