Parental control apps for Kindle?

I know Amazon doesn't have any real parental controls for the Kindle, but I thought I read somewhere that there are apps you can download that will give some parental control for the web on Kindles. Has anyone done this? Right now I have put the WIFI under password protection on their Kindles, but I'd like to be able to just have a filter of some type instead.

I don't know whether these apps exist or not, but if they do, they'd only be available for the Kindle Fire. The other Kindles -- the ones that're best for actual reading -- do not have the ability to download apps.

I personally don't think the Kindle is a great thing for a pre-teen, and this is one of the reasons.

We use Kid Zone, you can get the app and also available for your PC. The basic app is free. It locks up all the controls once activated and the only way out is to enter a "code" You can put whatever apps you want in the "Zone" that your kids can play.

The online PC version is great too! It lets them go to games or websites like PBSkids.org but keeps them from using unapproved or leaving the site.

We have not subscribed to the annual membership, as the basic has been fine for us. The the membership gets you great books for the kids for PC and App. I used it on our Nook, but I am sure it will work on Kindle.
