Hi all!
I've been approaching you all with a lot of questions lately due to me not being at WDW since 2012 (that was before Magic Bands).
My current question is......Do they still do the parent swap???
My DD23 needs to know before she leaves on her vacation with her DH and DS.
Thank for your help

We used it on our trip in early October without a problem

Is it still being done in the same way as in the past.
Parent #1 goes on the ride and then parent #2 goes through the LL to ride the ride?

If this is the way it's still done, then only one parent needs to purchase Genie+.
Would you agree with this?
My DGS is 9months old, so he will be riding nothing the entire trip.

I guess I shouldn't say he won't be riding anything - that is incorrect.
He will be riding nothing in regards to thrill rides.
He can ride The People Mover, Spaceship Earth and other easy going rides like that.

That's most of the rides at MK. Just avoid the word "mountain" or "mine" and he can ride almost everything else. LOL

It's digital now. The whole party needs to approach the CM to request the Rider Swap, showing the too small child. The Swap will be put on the MB/ticket of the 2nd rider while the 1st rider gets in the queue. When the 1st rider is done, the 2nd parent can enter the LL queue. If the 1st rider uses LL, they may require that the 2nd rider also have a LL -- they were doing that with FP. There are threads on the Disney for Families board.

Thank you for this information.

From what I've read, everyone looking to use rider swap would need to have a LL reservation (not the baby of course).

Disney has already said that for rider swap to be used all parties involved in the swap would need to be able to access the same lines. You can't 1 genie+ or 1 paid ride entrance then access it with both parents.

I don't think so - I would imagine if the first person uses LL, then the second person would need it as well.

However, if the first person does not and just uses the regular stand by, I don't see why anyone would require it. People would lose their minds if Disney started trying to restrict access to Parent Swap as a paid service.

You are correct. My reply was just based on if they wanted to use LL for rider swap.

I saw another thread about rider swap but this one is just a little bit older so I'll ask here. DH and I are going in December, and if we want to ride EE, can we do Single Rider line and still do the rider swap? DD is 2.5 and will not meet the height requirement, nor would she want to go on it anyway. Or, should we just plan on doing the Standby line with Rider Swap? OR - is this a better question for once we are there and then talk to a CM? I imagine Test Track would be the same way, and since we aren't going to HS this trip and MK doesn't have any single rider lines, we don't have to worry about those ones.

The rider swap is now limited to only 1 child/guest with the waiting parent. Also, the entire party (including baby in stroller) needs to wait in the outdoor portion of the queue (SDMT and FOP). People have reported being able to get out of line, but nothing was less than 40 mins when we went

Isn't the point of Rider Swap to not have to wait in line with a little that won't be able/want to ride the ride? Sigh, okay.

Yes, but the two children that went with dad used to be able to ride with mom again. Now you have to choose which of the children (or grandparents) can ride with mom as only 1 RIDER is allowed with mom. They might make exceptions though.

Luckily for us, we don't have to worry about any kids or grandparents missing out, since DD probably will be under 40" and it's just the 3 of us traveling!
