Parasailing?

Has anyone done the parasailing at the Contemporary Resort? My 12 1/2 year old DD wants to try it but it seems incredibly expensive for the amount of time you get. How far in advance do you have to make reservations? Any help would be appreciated.

I think we booked a few days in advance two years ago. A storm was approaching so they called it a day just as we were ready to go on. However, right there we were able to make reservations for the next day.

Because of the price I imagine that it's not such a brisk seller that you need to book it weeks ahead of time. However, if you want to go on a particular date and at a particular time (the boat goes out either every half hour or every hour -- and on our trip out took four different parasailers) I'd call in a few weeks ahead.

Was it worth it? It was an experience. It's not as thrilling as it appears and you don't go as high as you do with other parasailing stints out in the Caribbean. However, you do get a unique one-of-a-kind view of the Magic Kingdom and that was worth it (for me, at least).

At one point in my life I actually ran a parasailing program.

I would recommend Disney's just because they are SO good about keeping the equipment and boats in excellent conditon and they are very safety oriented.

I am not saying that some the Caribbean are not safe, just that I feel certain Disney's is.

My family did parasailing a few weeks ago as part of a prize package, so we didn't have a cost involved. But, I just have to say, it was one of our favorite things we did all week and we did a lot of cool stuff with our prize money!

We did two tandem flights since our kids were to small to go alone. I really liked having someone to share the sights with while in the air. We could see so much of the "World" and beyond. We were probably in the air for about 10 minutes for the parasailing. There was another couple with us during the trip that each did individual flights, so we were on the water close to an hour. It was very refreshing, riding around in the boat during the hot part of the day and was enjoyable in itself (goes much faster than any of the watercraft you can rent for yourself).

I highly recommend the ride. Hope you let your daughter do it....better yet, do it with her. :)

This was part of the plan that we were on several years ago and so we did not notice the cost. It was a great adventure and we really enjoyed it. I went up first, followed by my wife, then my DS and finally my two DD in tandem. It was a great time.

We would had done it again except for a storm the next day. They are very careful about the weather.

I would recommend this expierence and adventure if you can swing it. You get a great view from up on top.

The only negative was that while I was up in the air, some kids ran their water mice in front of the boat (in the out of bounds area) and the boat had slowed down (the drop in speed caused me to drop fairly fast for a minute but I was in no real danger). The bay partol ran the water mice off and no one else had any problems.
