I want to parasail at Castaway Cay- when you book this excursion do you have to do a certain time. If anyone has done this- do you recommend a certain time? DH and DD are not doing it- they will just be hanging on the beach. Also how long does the whole excursion take? TIA!!

We like to do it in the late afternoon, just before heading back to the ship:thumbsup2

We had it booked for 11ish, beofre lunch, but it was cancelled due to high winds:sad1:

Maybe next time!!

Just do it!!!! For me, it doesn't matter the time of day just so long as I get to do it. I loved it!!!! Have fun. :)

Parasailing at Castaway Cay was the absolute highlight of our recent cruise. I highly recommend it! We booked at 10:30 a.m., and we were done by 11:30 a.m. It was VERY windy, but insanely fun!!! They actually canceled the parasailing excursions after ours due to the winds. We had so much fun that we'll definitely be doing it again (with kids this time) during our next cruise! :thumbsup2

It sounds like so much fun, I can't wait. DH won't do it and DD is only 6- so she can't yet. I was gonna wait until she is old enough to do it, but we'll see. ;)

We always plan our excursions early (between 9-11:00) so we can be done before lunch. That way we can eat and relax on the beach afterward.

Since we went in the summer we also figured the weather was more reliable early...storms tend to pop up in the afternoon during the summer...

I think I'm gonna do an early one- then I have the rest of the day to hang with my family. When you booked it- did it give you times to choose from- or do they choose for you?

yes - u select the time you want...i believe they ran every hour on the hour. i think we booked 11:00 so we'd be done by noon... that gave us time to have a leisurely sit-down breakfast and get out to the beach and find a spot for our stuff and get settled before we had to check-in for the excursion without too much rushing around.:thumbsup2

I signed five of us up for our January cruise, and chose the hour increment I wanted. The earliest offered was 9:30-10:30 and the last one was 3:30-4:30. It states that it is 45 minutes total (airborne 5-7 min). It didn't ask if we would be single or tandem.

We are cruising in February and DS wants to do this, as do I. Since he isn't heavy enough to go alone we will go tandem. My niece and nephew are also travelling with us and plan to go as well. Let's hope for calm winds.

We just parasailed at CC on our Double Dip cruise - the day the Wonder & Magic were at CC together. We went at 11:30 and I would say the earlier the better - the winds and waters were calm. It was our first time and I LOVED it!! I can't wait to take my 9 yr old next time we're anywhere close to a parasailing activity - very peaceful and what a sight!! Go for it!

I'm planning on doing this with my DD when we're there in August...lets hope for no hurricane force winds that day!!!

Definitely book early in the morning i.e. 10 AM. That way if it gets cancelled due to wind/weather, you have a better chance of getting a slot in the afternoon. If you want to see video, I have two videos linked on my Disney Cruise page on my website linked below. They were from a good day...I haven't posted the videos yet from a really windy day. It's expensive but worth it...done it on all five trips to the island.

We went last week. They did tell the two single people that they had to go up together. Not sure if that is common but they told the two singles that they could not go alone. I was with DD so I didn't bother asking why they had to go together.

It's up to the captain. If you have a calm day, then usually they will let you go up solo (if there are enough people going up as tandems for time reasons). We went tandem our first time, not knowing any better. The only other time we went tandem was because of winds. We're not light people and we were getting whipped around somewhat so it was good they required us to tandem.

I would book online in advance to be sure to get a spot. You never know if it's going to sell out...our August cruise wasn't sold out but the November one was completely sold out before we even docked.

One recommendation: Tip the boat staff before they harness you and try to go last (i.e. get on the boat first). I got a little bit more time up in the air than everyone else and was closer to the ship than others. I was by myself and gave them $15. We always give them at least a $10 tip but I've noticed no one else has tipped on our rides.

Hey, Nikki! We're on the same cruise and we are planning to do this early in the a.m. too! We booked this for our last cruise in the afternoon, but it was cancelled due to high winds. We were so disappointed! :sad2:

I am going to get online and book the excursion as soon as I'm able to. The date is marked on my calendar!!!
