Looking for info from anyone who has parasailed. Its something I'd really like to try  , but I'm also pretty nervous about the prospect:scared1: . I see where its available during our 2/7 Wonder stop and I'm considering it. My boys, (10 and 8), very much want to try it, but that makes me even more nervous! We're really just at the minimum age level. Anyone let their kids this young try?
Thanks,
Janet

Go for it my Daughter and I have been doing it at CC since 05 when she was 10 years old:thumbsup2 We love it.

We just parasailed at Castaway on Tuesday! We had a few kids on our boat around 10 years old. They were terrified when we were on the dock and also on the boat. But once they got in the air, they loved it. They wanted to go again!

I did it for the first time this past September and it is really a great experience. Although I didn't have a boat with young kids in it the other boat did and it looked like the kids had a blast. They were all laughing and giggling when they got out of the boat.
The is a safety vest put on and safety harnesses and if the wind is going too fast or bad weather is too close the excursion will be cancelled.
I was petrified on the dock and on the boat. I thought I would toss some cookies when they hooked me up but once you get up in the air it is fantastic! It is silent up there and you can see for miles away. I got up enough nerve to take some pictures with my waterproof camera.(never take your expensive camera- in case it drops in the ocean).
You need to go to an internet site that shows someone parasailing and show your kids. If they know what to expect and you know what to expect then there won't be any last minute suprises.
I think that because they are so young you might have to go up with each one(I can't remember the weight restrictions for going without an adult).
Any how, it is a wonderful time and I am so glad I did it! I have this glorious memory that I wouldn't trade for anything!

DH and ds7 went at the CR for his 7th birthday. The boat ride was scarier--if they had room, they let spectators on. DH said you didn't feel like you were whipping through the air, just gliding and it was so quiet that he and ds could use their normal speaking voices to talk to each other.

Afterwards ds wanted to know if he could do it again. I said it was a very expensive ride and no, he couldn't. He said, just charge it. ARGH.

Like the OP, this is something I'd like to try also. Tho I'm fairly athletic for my age, I have a bum knee so my concern is landing. Is it high-impact or do they just kind of grab you as you glide in? Of course my biggest fear would be bouncing in on my keester! :scared:

My daughter (8) and I did a tandem, my wife and son (11) did a tandem on our Aug cruise. I think the weight limit for a tandem was 250. They loved it. Ask them to dunk you into the water. You'll get your bottom and feet wet. It only takes a couple of seconds and then you go back up. It also depends on the wind. They won't dunk you if the conditions aren't right. Make sure you takes picks of the ship and the Flying Dutchman from up there. Nice ...........

The landing is not high impact. They bring you in very slowly and you land very gently on the back of the boat. Just take 2 steps forward when you land and you are done.

The weight limit for tandem was 375 lbs.

Thanks for all of the input. I think you guys have me convinced! I'll look for that video for the kids (and myself). Loved the descriptions-especially about the quiet. I figured I'd do this tandem with each of the kids and loved the idea that we could have a " magical moment" in the air. :cloud9:

Matt's Mom- kids are the funniest. Once, my then 3 year old, after being told that I did not have money for another purchase at the check-out, said, "Well, give them your phone number!." Never realized until then that all the times I wrote checks and proceeded to confirm my phone number, he did not see what I was doing (too busy looking at the junk around the registers), but he always heard me! It was sort of funny till I noticed the lone guy behind us looking at me strangely and then sort of smiling this creepy smile. Oh yeah, mister...I've got a basket full of melting groceries and 3 kids, why don't I give my phone number for some M&Ms. Right, I've got time for that!!

Doc,

Just wanted to let you know that we are doing this just a few days before you. Only two of mine want to do it, but their ages are not much different than your childern. My youngest will have just turned eight days before our trip...I am like you, a little nervous, but what the heck, you have to live a little I guess.

Hope ya'll have fun!

Does anyone know if non-participants can go on the boat? The kids and I are interested in trying the parasailing but not DH. Would love him along to take pics of us from the boat.
