I want to take my DW on a parasailing trip while we're at Disney this September. Any tips or reviews? Is it worth the hefty $95.00 fee? Do you get wet? Any info would be appreciated. :woohoo:

We did the parasailing this past December for our DD8's birthday. We had a blast. I did get a little sick to my stomache, but I do that easily. Actually the ride was very smooth, it was the swaying that did me in. We didn't get wet. You get launched from the back of the boat, and then brought back in onto the back. Everyone at Sammy Duvall's was great. We did the tandem ride which was fun, because I was up with my daughter. We actually couldn't go up on the original date because of wind, but they were really helpful with rescheduling. If I didn't get so sick, I would probably do it again. Here are some pics from our trip.

These are my mother and DD5 getting set up and launching. You take off from a sitting position.

Hope this helps, we had a great time, you really should try it if you have the extra money. Have fun!:woohoo:

My DH and DS 13 did the tandum ride in August last year and LOVED it. They can't wait to go again next year. I was content to ride in the boat and watch them have a blast. I asked the driver if they would get dunked and he said they aren't allowed to, for which I was glad!!! If you have an AP you can save 10%...:goodvibes

My son and his girlfriend (age 18 and 17 at the time) did it at the Contemporary back in 2004 when he graduated high school. The first time it got cancelled due to a storm, but they easily rescheduled them for the next day. They had a blast.

I did it. I did the one that costs a little extra, where you go up higher and stay up longer. I was a little scared, but it was great!!!

Taking off was very exciting, but being up there was very peaceful. It was like I was in my own world...and the view is great! I saw stuff I didn't even know existed at WDW. I absolutely loved it, will do it again, and highly recommend it for people who aren't afraid of heights. :thumbsup2

If you bring a camera, they'll snap pics of you.

I didn't get wet at all. There was a young woman (20? 22?) there who was (literally) whining to the staff that she got dunked in the water last time she did it and wanted to again. They said they were aware that another driver did that, but they no longer do it. I don't see the big deal...if you want to get wet, jump in the pool.

They have a cup on the boat for tips. I don't know if you're supposed to tip or not, but I didn't have any cash on me, so I couldn't.

Have a great time!! :)

I just did it with my niece & it was $174 for the tandem. She loved it & wants to go again. I loved it but don't need to go again. The thing that I didn't think of, is when they say 450', that is rope length, not height. I don't think we were all that much higher than the contemporary, maybe 50 feet higher. For $12.95 they will shoot a role (12 exps) of 35mm film for you. I don't think they will take your pictures with your camera anymore, and you're not allowed to bring it up with you.
I recommend it at least once.

I didn't know they no longer took pics. :( I did my sail in May, so I guess things have changed.

That sucks that they won't. I can't believe they're now charging to snap a pic! That kind of ticks me off.

i went when i was lyk 14 or 15 and i was to light and the winds where high so they sent the "1st mate" of the boat up with me and he pointed out all the sights the tree of life..the castle..it was soooooo much fun! def worth w/e it costs! and it was the the CR. SOOO WORTH IT!
