Parasailing at Castaway Cay...age limit??

For our January 2010 cruise, we signed up through the website for our DDs (ages 12 & 14) to go parasailing at CC. We figured they would go tandem. The reservation went through without a problem. A day or so after boarding we had a phone message saying we needed to book an adult with her or she couldn't go. We did book the additional person so as not to cause major disappointment for DD12. Once we got to CC, though, all excursions had been cancelled due to weather. All charges were refunded, but we still had a couple sad children...

My DS and I went parasailing at Bay Lake last year and it was just awesome! Could see MK and Epcot and HS! It was truly amazing and magical! So cool to see the land that Walt bought 40+ years ago!

My DS12 and I are planning on parasailing at CC in March. I'm sure it will exhilarating!

Thanks, for the info I thinking we have been waiting for. I think I will call DCL and talk with a Supervisor.

Please post if you do talk to a supervisor - I'm anxious to hear what they have to say. I already warned my DD that she might not be able to do, or I will just have bite the bullet and pay for me to go along - this makes me upset that they would allow you to book it and wait til we get on board to do anything about it

I don't understand why you would be upset. If you read the information regarding the excursion, it states that no one under the age of 13 can parasail without an adult over the age of 18. Children 13-18 can ride without supervision. If you have one child under 13 and one child over 13, the one who is under 13 would have to have adult supervision.

No where did it say children under 13 have to have adult supervision unless they have an older sibling riding along.

At some point, you have to take responibility for following the rules and not rely on the computer to "flag" it. Read the description, follow the rules, and decide what is best for your family. There is no reason to be upset about it. When it comes to excursions, exceptions to the rules are not made. If they were, it would be a major liability.

Minimum weight 90 lbs., maximum weight 375 lbs.

For Guests wishing to ride tandem, the combined weight cannot exceed 375 lbs.
Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.
All Guests must have a paying ticket and no ride-along Guests are permitted.
Children aged 13-18 years participating unaccompanied must be escorted to Marge's Barges by an adult 18 years or older. Wheelchairs (collapsible or electric) are not permitted.
Guests must stay on the boat for the duration of the time while other participants fly.

Embrace the rules and use it to your advantage!
In Jan I took dd 9 and ds 13 parasailing. I knew they would be nervous doing something new and would want us to go with them.
DH HATES heights and would never ever ride with them. Big chicken I got to go twice
Since I went two times we had to pay 2 adult fares. DH came on the boat as we technically had paid his fare I just took his ride. We have a couple of AMAZING photos that I wish I knew how to post.... We were happy to have had the ability to get those photos because he was on board

It has nothing to do with not following rules. I am the biggest ruler follower. I thought this forum was for voicing concern, opinions and trying to get information and share information and experiences.

The information that you posted is not availble to look at in the area where you book. It does have the age restriction for the Wave runner/jet skis and it flags you regarding age when you try to book someone under 16 to ride alone. But the Parasailing on the booking pages does not have anything about age restriction and it does let you book children with out someone over 18. That is what we are talking about. It wasn't till I saw this post and someone posted the details did I go back and find the details on the Port section of the website. Like I said these descriptive details are not on the booking pages.

I have no problem paying to go with my children if need be and if I have to pay twice I will pay twice. The other poster and myself who book her children were just a little thrown off because like we said we were not flagged for Parasailing like we were for Jet skis. I however, am booked for Jet skis around the same time and now will be calling DCL to clarify. If I have to I will cancel Jet ski and join them on Parasailing.

For my fellow Parasailing parent, I hope to get the call in by Monday. I will post what information I get right after that. I still have 6 weeks to my cruise, so it will all work out.

Have fun doing whatever you end up doing. I think next time we will try the jet skiing...also sound really fun and DH is afraid of heights....not water

Could you do both?? Is jet skiing expensive??
