We've had Tiki Bird for just under a year now and this morning my DD9 was freaking because Tiki was doing this weird thing with her neck. DD took Tiki out of the cage and she shook her head and threw up some seeds. She has thrown up a couple times. It is seeds. Her droppings look a little weird too. She has been sleepy all day. This is my first bird. I'm worried. She is very sweet and tame and says her name.

Also I am considering taking her to the emergency vet if I get too nervous. (it's Sunday night or I would call the store where I got her. They are very knowlegable and helpful). I just don't want to break the bank. I don't know what to do. Help please!

Does she have grit or a cuttle bone in her cage to eat? Smaller birds need those to keep everything flowing, so to speak. Good luck

I'm a self confessed worry wart but I always take my animals to the vet if I am concerned.
An avian vet told us that birds are very good at hiding their illness until they are very sick. Is your bird still preening? If not then I would find a vet ASAP.

Hope Tiki is OK.

We have an emergency vet close by. I called over there. The dr who takes care of birds is coming in at 8 so I'm probably going to take her then. The person I spoke to told me to just keep her quiet so I have her cage partially covered and she is sleeping.

Good point about the cuttle bone. She used to have one but I haven't replaced it. Ugh. Hope I didn't make her sick.

Oh and the tech at the vet told me $46 for the visit and any meds extra. For an emergency that doesn't sound too bad. I will post again to update.

As if my 3 kids weren't enough of a source of worry and acida...
