We had a reservation at Napa Rose and approached the gate intending to do it "right." We pushed the buzzer and waited. And waited. And pushed it again. And waited. Then we just followed an employee inside. It seems very unpredictable as to what will happen.

It is a weird one, as it isn't a push and wait. You push and hold the button and when it beeps, you talk, when you are done talking, you release the button and they will respond.

And the gate was locked July 4-6th.

We went through on the 5th around noon and it wasn’t locked.

Unless they have changed it very recently, you have to walk through downtown Disney to get into the park. The Grand entrance is only for guests at that hotel. They have to get some kind of value for spending 700 bucks a night!!

Are you sure? I could have sworn the new Disney motto is "Pay more, get less!"

Wow, this is fascinating. Can someone clarify where this gate is located and where it lets out? I apologize for my ignorance, but it sounds like this isn't the gate at the GCH that exits into the Grizzly area of DCA. Thanks.

No, it is NOT the actual park entry/exit located inside the hotel near Grizzly River Rapids, this is at the main entrance to the GCH on Disneyland Drive directly across the street from Paradise Pier.

However, anyone can enter the GCH from Downtown Disney (near Sephora) or use the entrance/exit near Grizzly River Rapids, we do that each time we stay at Stovall's, but it would be ideal for Paradise Pier guests or guests staying at any of the offsite Katella hotels, it saves time and steps when you are leaving the parks. I hope that makes sense.

We are visiting in September and ould like to check out the new bar at the Grand. We are staying at the Hilton. Will they let us through if it later in the day? Or will we have to walk all the way around? Just curious. Thanks!

I would not count on it. The gate, as stated, is sometimes locked or manned by a cast member.

I would be very disappointed to try to walk into the front driveway of GCH and be told no.

I know you are able to go if you have a dining reservation, but guests who are going there have been told no in the past if they intend to visit only the lobby bar, so i would presume this is applicable to the pool bar now as well.

We stayed at PP last month and entered DCA through GCH without any problems. As another poster mentioned, it was later in the day, maybe around 3 or so. I remember reading something about GCH guests are only permitted up to a certain time (say 10am?), then after, it's open for everyone to access. I don't remember the gate being locked at all but it may have just been so many people going in and out that it didn't matter.

We walked across the street from PPH into GCH without any issue. There were multiple people doing the same. Again, it could just be late in the day that staff is a bit more lax about it.
