Paradise Pier Hotel Questions

This is our first time staying at the PPH (have always stayed at and enjoyed the Hojo previously), and I have a few room questions (we're staying in a standard room). Does anyone know if-

-there are safes in each of the rooms?
-are there refrigerators and/or microwaves?
-are all the rooms now renovated? I remember reading that was going on for a while.
-Do all the rooms have sofas?
-any suggestions? We're having our room decorated for her b-day before we arrive (we won't get there until almost 6 pm due to daughter's xmas program at school that morning), and I didn't know if it would be wrong to ask the planners to keep us in mind if they do have any upgrade availability?

We just got back a few days ago from a stay at the Paradise Pier. Yes they do have a safe in the room which I really liked. There is a fridge but no microwave. There is a microwave in the lobby lounge that is available if you need it. The room had a sofa that also pulls out into a single sofa sleeper if you need it. I hope you have a great time!

I've heard that even as a hotel guest you still have to pay for parking at the DLR. Does this apply to PPH as well? How does it work, and how much is it? Any free over night parking anywhere around ?

Parking at the hotel is $15 a day. Parking at the park is $15 a day. I'm not sure why you would stay at PPH and leave to park in a theme park lot - much easier and faster to walk from the hotel. No free parking anywhere (unless you pick a hotel with free parking), at least nowhere that guarantees your car would still be there in the morning.

It is $15 per night at any of the Disneyland resort hotels, including PPH. They will charge the $15 per night to your room so you can pay for it anyway you like when you check out. You use your room key to get in and out of the lot. PPH has a parking garage right behind it. Much more convenient to park in then the self parking for GCH which is a little walk. One thing to be aware of, there is no elevator in the parking garage. So make sure you unload your car before you park it unless you will be lucky enough to get a parking spot on ground level.

Here is a tip: you can watch the fireworks from the pool located on the 3rd floor, grab a chair & enjoy with minimal wait, they even play the music

The suites all have microwaves, but I've never stayed in a standard room (we travel with my parents so there are always at least 6 of us) so I don't know about them.

Standard rooms do not have a microwave. There is one down in the lobby by the bar. Really easy to get to and available to use 24/7 unlike the GCH that only had a microwave way down in the White Water Snack that closes at 10pm.

One more question- Am I right that we just use our hotel key for many purchases in the park? So I don't have to worry about dragging my debit card around with me, just some extra cash?

Yep! They call it your Key To The Magic and you can charge your purchases to your hotel bill.

Also, you can have your packages shipped to the hotel for you to pick up the next morning instead of carrying them around the park.

Not so sure that's a good thing for me. I might end up with a whole lot more than I planned to buy since I won't need to carry it myself!

We've stayed on DVC points at Paradise Pier and we were not charged the $15 for self-parking.

Last year at the Grand it was 17 and 22..I did not know all the hotels had been equilized this year.

Jack, I remember you reporting those prices before and I was confused since self-parking had been $15 at all three resorts. I know that I called after reading your post back then and the Grand confirmed the $15 so I wonder how you got charged the $17?!?!

DVC members the parking was free, pool hopping is a big NO.

I am only the messinger, saw your post and talked to a CM at the grand 2 minutes ago and she said 17 and 22, maybe this is a state secret or as per usual everyone has a different story..I have no clue.

When I called I think it was last year so your info from 2 minutes ago is probably more accurate, I just remember getting a different answer last year after reading a post from you about the $17.

I never trust what they say, ...I could be totally wrong but just passing on what I was told, I will be there in August again and I will make a point of finding out since I do need to park there. Have a great weekend.
