Paradise Pier Fans Please help me feel better

WOw! thanks for those figures! I didn't realise that Tropicana was actually closer! Good to know though

It came to me that, I think I may just choose the hotel I want to try (PPH) and think of it as...walking off calories from treats I'm about to treat myself to!!

Note to self: focusing on choosing a nice hotel, and realize that no matter the length of the walk, I will BE AT DISNEYLAND!!! whoohoo:yay:
can't wait!

Yes, and when you are walking through the GCH while taking the short cut to and from the PPH, you won't even realize it is much of a walk at all because you are immersed in Disney merriment the whole time. When you get there and see exactly where the PPH is in relation to the GCH, you will realize it is not bad at all. Believe me, my friend (who nearly killed me when we did not take the short cut in 2007 and instead followed the path designated by the signs on the PPH path) is not one to appreciate long walks anywhere. She will grumble and complain about pain or whatever. Me? I will suffer through it if I have to. So the last time we stayed at PPH (12/08), I actually apologized to her for having to book the room there because I knew how she felt about the walk. But we had already become familiar with the short cut and had used it successfully in October 2008, so she said, "Oh, that's all right! I like the Paradise Pier!" So I knew that if my grumbly friend was feeling positive about a PPH stay and didn't mind it, then the walk via the short cut must be okay!!:thumbsup2

We (me, DH, DD11, DS9) are going to DLR for the first time in July. We have been to WDW several times but this may be our only trip out west. We are staying the first 5 nights at Best Western Park Place Inn. I wanted the full Disney experience so I booked the last 3 nights at the Grand Californian. I haven't paid the deposit yet. I keep looking at the invoice and I just can't justify what it would cost to sleep at GC. If we switch to PPH we will save over $500. PLEASE tell me I won't be sorry by staying at PPH. I'm not even sure what we will be doing on the days we will be staying at a Disney hotel. We only have a 3 day park-hopper so we may be in the park or we may just be wondering around DTD or we may be away on an excursion day. (In other words location to the park is not a deciding factor). I need some positive PPH vibes!!

OR I could switch to DH for 2 nights instead of 3 and save over $600.

What should I do?!?!?!? :confused3

Thanks!

BTW - does anyone have a picture of the waterslide at PPH?

I have stayed at all 3 DLR hotels and GCH is our favorite but we only stay there when they offer the discount for AP holders.

I would stay at PPH, you still get the benefits of a DLR hotel and it's not that much further. You can cross the street and cut through the lobby of the GCH. Considering you won't be in your room that much I think it's better to save the money.

We are also WDW vets, and are going to DL in August. We wanted to stay at GCH, so just kept checking for the summer specials, which came out a couple days ago. So we booked GCH for tow nights at $264/night with the summer special - much better than the $440 per night rack rate!! Without the special, we would have booked DLH or PPH.

I absolutly love the PPH, in July of 09 we upgraded to DLH and it was nice, but my Sister (14) and I (26) loved the PPH in December for her birthday. It's not nearly the walk people make it out to be if you take the shortcut through the DGC. They CM's were much nicer at PPH. DSis got birthday suprises and loved the hotels decorations. Also, the Character meal there is FANTASTIC!!! It's not Goofy's but so few people go over there that we had tons of time with the characters. Our picture on the way in was with 6 characters! It was the best money I have ever spent and can't wait to go back to the PPH in May!

Omg, you sound like my mom! She has always done the same thing. I thought she was the only one, but I guess not! I'm actually on the phone with her right now and read what you wrote and she's laughing :rotfl: It's rather smart when you think of it. And the DVC resorts give even better products, mind you they are not in such cute bottles, but they sell them in the store for TOO MUCH money.

I love the PPH myself. And I also love those Mickey Bottles. My last stay, I left a mousekeeping envelope with a few bucks in it and thanks, and PS could we have an extra shampoo or too as we are utilizing all the product, yada yada. Well, we ended up with about 6 of each on the counter that day, and each additional day we were there! Zowza! What a score!
