parade question

I was just looking at pictures of the Christmas Fantasy Parade on a trip report...this was a day where the parade ran twice. I noticed that the first parade started at IASW, but the second parade started at the end of Main St closest to the entrance to the park.

On a day when there is only one parade, where does it start? Usually when we go there isn't a parade, or if there is, we don't watch it, but this time we will and I am trying to figure out where to watch it from.

I would assume that on a shorten days which only has one parade, I would guess that on a Monday and Wednesday it would start from IASW. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays, it would start from MS USA. When I was there on Thursday Nov. 18, the parade came from MS USA. On that day, I thought it would come from IASW, but it came from MS USA instead. This is the Holiday season at DL and there will always be a parade even on the shorten days. On the calender on disneyland.com there is a parade scheduled on each day. No matter what every spot is a good place to watch the parade. I always like to watch the "A Christmas Fantasy" parade when it starts at the gates. IASWH is a good place to watch when it starts and MS USA by the Disney Showcase Store or by the Flag Retreat.

On that day, I thought it would come from IASW, but it came from MS USA instead.

This happened to me. I asked at the info booth and was told it would start at IASW and it actually came from Main Street. Perhaps they are used to the way Celebrate worked?

Anyhow, the days that I have been there with one parade it always started from Main St. I would think it would rotate between the two starts but, I'm not sure.

And Bret, it was your trip report, which is awesome, that I was looking at. And seeing your pictures is what made me think about where it would start and where I should be to get good pictures, since I noticed the great angles. I agree, where ever the parade starts looks like the best place to be.

The day we were there when there was only one, it started on Main Street. This was a Thursday.

They must have changed things since the last time we've been. I've never seen a parade start at Main Street, so I just assumed they always start at IASW. If they start it at Main Street, do they block it off earlier? How does reserving a space work? Or is it the same?

When ever i have been there the next parade always starts where the last parade ends......obviously because all the floats etc are now at the other end of the parade route. On the days when there is only one parade they likely start where the last parade the day before ended.

parade goes twice a day. starts at small world for first run and goes from small world to main st.. then second showing it starts on main st. and goes to small world.. .. it is also in the map of the parks.

LOL, how many answers to one question?

On days when there is 1 parade, it goes from Main Street towards iasw.

On days when there are 2 parades, the 1st parade starts at iasw and goes towards Main Street. The 2nd parade then starts at Main Street and goes towards iasw.

The easy way that I have found to remember it is:
The evening parade always goes from Main Street towards iasw, whether it's the 2nd or the only parade of the day. If there's a parade BEFORE that, then it of course has to get to that start point, so it must be starting at iasw.

Thanks everyone! We will be watching the parade on a Tues, only one parade that day, so taking everyone's answers, seems like it will start at Main St.
