I'll be visiting for the first time, and will be alone. I've read where most people will arrive VERY early for "good viewing spots" for the parades, fireworks, Fantasmic, etc.

As a single, do you have any better luck arriving later than groups and still get a good view? I'm thinking since I'm alone, I could maybe find a seat for Fantasmic that is between groups? And for fireworks/parades, just kinda squeeze in amongst the crowds (respectfully, of course!) where larger parties can't?

I always just arrive shortly before the show starts (Fantasmic) and have had no problems getting a good seat.. It is much easier to find one seat versus a bunch together. I always get a super view too.:goodvibes As for parades you do need to stake out your spot ahead of time but I usually just sit on the sidewalk under the ropes. Good luck! :yay:

Cool, thanks! That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if they have people picking the seats for Fantasmic (making everyone move down to fill every available seats) from left to right, taking up all the single spots (groups have a tendency to leave a space between them if they're allowed).

I find Illuminations the toughest to do solo. I'm short so I really do need a front row view in order to see and the front row fills up early. It's a time investment I'm not always willing to put in.

If you were 6 foot tall, do you feel you would have an acceptable view when arriving really near showtime?

tough to say. 6 feet tall and only need to find a spot for one person, so a good view between other heads would work? Probably. I would think the crowd could be a few people deep and you would still be ok.

I would say that someone 6 feet tall or more would have an advantage showing up last minute for the Illuminations show. At 6'1", I never have a problem watching the show, even from a few rows back. Given an entire line of people lined up along the fence or wall to watch, you are bound to find some of those people are shorter than 6 feet tall...and you just stand behind those people.

If I'm staked out along the fence or wall myself because I planned on seeing the show, I'll let someone else's kids or a shorter person stand in front of me since I know I can easily see over them. Being one person back from the fence with someone 8 inches shorter than me in front doesn't affect my view of the show at all.

BTW - for solos looking for Illuminations spots - check out the wall along the front of France, just past the bridge. There are alot of carts and kiosks along there, and families will usually grab all the spots between them...but often there is space between the kiosk or cart and the wall just big enough for 1 person, and if you kindly ask a family to let you slip past them, you can slip in and get a front-row show right on the wall - even a place to lay the camera for slow shutter shots.
