If we (2 people ) were to claim a spot on Main Street somewhat early to watch Starlight and sat on curb while waiting - would people expect us to stay seated when parade starts? I would want to stand and would think everyone else would too?

Let me know the expected way please!

To me it’s more about what the CMs would say. I’m not sure guests are allowed to sit in the curb due to their legs and feet technically extending into the parade route?

You could sit there then chat with the people around you and offer someone the spot to sit once it’s time to stand. I think some good communication could be the answer.

I was thinking that.
I'd say we are going to stand, you're more than welcome to sit in front of us.

Also we are pretty short, I'm only 5'4 and he's 5'7 at the most! 😂

I would not stand if I was originally sitting on the curb. Always people on the curb are sitting and people that come up behind probably expect you to remain seated. I also don't think that there is a need to stand in order to see the parade. Is your goal of standing due to seeing it or being tired of sitting? If the latter maybe stand while waiting and sit once it starts. Also kids cant see over someone who is 5'4

I'm an adult and *I* cannot see over someone who is 5'4" :)

OP, if you are going to do this, I'd let the people who come up behind you know that you'll be standing up, so they can decide if they want to move or not.

If we watched from Frontier Land, I know no one sits because that's where we watch Boo To You.

I want to stand because I feel its more engaging with parade. And more fun.

Maybe we will just stand and wait to get rid of confusion. Then people with children can stand next to us.

Or just not watch on Main Street.

As above, maybe we will just hang and stand or screw it and not watch on Main Street.

If we stake out a couple hours early, maybe we will take turns standing first hour and then stand second hour.

If we stand entire time, I'm certainly not going to sit when it starts! 😂

I think it's a mix of people standing and sitting from what I watched.

We will probably just stand on curb from the get go. We can handle it.

That is your choice. There are no hard rules about forcing everyone to stand or sit. It is polite to mention to those that might sit behind you plan to stand during the parade. We always enjoy sitting at the curb. You just can't stand on the street.

On very busy nights if you stand right on the curb, other guests tend to send small children to crowd in front of you, and then the adults tend to push up to be near their children when they panic about their children being too far away from them.

The CMs don't care as long as you are not extending your legs into the roadway excessively that it may interfere with the parade cast walking around.

Hmmm.

If I'm standing at a curb at any location and parents send their small child to stand in front of me, that's fine. As long as parents stand next to or behind me.

Now I'm remembering why we never bother to watch parades in the first place. Yeesh..😂

I know we would want to stand too during the parade. If my DD21 and I were in your situation, we would stand up about 15 minutes before the parade would start. My DD and I for HEA (we have a great HEA spot), and we’ll do the same thing for Starlight, is offer a family directly behind us if they’d like their child/ren to stand in front of us. Some people take us up on the offer and some don’t, which is fine, we just offer to be nice. We also will offer someone in a wheelchair to be in front of us too.

Sitting at the curb is definitely allowed. During the parade, if you are sitting, your feet have to be against the curb, not extended.

If your sitting then stand as the parade starts, there will be some upset people.

On the other parade thread, people have stated about how high up the floats are and how little activity takes place at street level. I’ve been rethinking my usual parade spot. Especially if trying to take photos.

If you get a spot early for the parade while others are riding rides, eating or doing whatever you can do whatever you want at that moment or when the parade starts. If people get upset that you stand when the parade starts maybe they should have been there early so they were in front or in control of the situation. As I say this I'm a very social and talkative guy so I would be talking with everyone around me probably about Disney or sports.

For Starlight the floats are so tall I wouldn’t recommend sitting for the parade. Your neck would be in a lot of pain.

That's what I was thinking when I saw all those people sitting!
It was actually a mix of people sitting and standing down Main Street.

Maybe we'll find a garbage can to lean on while we wait so we don't have to sit. :D

We have done that, and then some guests will want to toss something in to the trash can. Then they tend to want to linger there once you step aside to allow the to access the trash can. Or they want to step over you vs walking down to the next marked walkway where a CM is stationed.

Parade etiquette is not a pretty situation, and it often devolves into a Mad Max movie scene.

😂 oh man! And we have to do this twice this trip! Boo To You on another night.

My husband just said wear comfortable shoes and we are standing on curb in front of Starbucks with no complaining (from me). 😂

Who knows, we will see what the day brings. Maybe we'll watch the late parade and will be less crowded.
