paper ticket upgrade

Can you still use non RFID paper tickets at the gate? I want to upgrade my 5 day base ticket I got through airmiles to a 6 day hopper and the ticket sticky recommends using your ticket first to keep the discount. Just want to make sure I can still do this.

No you can't - there are no more turnstiles. You'll need to change it to RFID. But you can change it outside the park gates, so it will be done before you actually use it.

So can I change it to RFID and then upgrade it once i use it?

You can change it outside, enter the park, and upgrade it inside. Unless you happen to have a type of ticket that is not upgradable.

Which kind are not upgradeable? I've upgraded them in past with no problem.

Usually comp tickets, YES tickets, convention tickets, group discounted tickets, anything issued for a special group. Not sure what kind of ticket you get with airline miles.

I did this just a few weeks back. I had a non RFID ticket from Undercover Tourist. Swapped it for a plastic RFID outside the park, entered the park and used it to upgrade to my annual pass renewal.

I'm not Dan, but I did an upgrade of an UCT ticket to an Annual Pass in December. We had a bunch of FP+ booked (this was on the early end of the FP+ roll-out) and the upgrade did NOT interfere with my FP+s. They stayed the same and it worked just fine.

After using the ticket to enter a theme park, yout 5-day base is worth current gate price of $323.76. 6-day PH has current gate price of $398.31. You will owe $74.55. If you are told you owe much more, and the CM won't properly credit your ticket, politely walk away (with your ticket) and go to another CM at Guest Relations, or go to another Guest Relations. There's 2 GR at each theme park and DTD.
