Help Papa!,
I am putting together a dvd slide show for our store manager who is retiring after 40+ years of service, and need music suggestions.
A little background on him. He is divorced, one daughter that can do no wrong, workaholic, can not imagine the store running without him, no friends to speak of, on his days off drives 200 miles to see said daughter to paint rooms in her house. (I tell him she's losing square footage, as many times as he's painted. LOL!) Can be a tyrant at work and is a perfectionist. Walks around with gloves on looking for dust (and the fact that he's a closet germ-a-phobe), he's fault finding and an overall negative guy.
I'm sure your asking why would we want to do something for him? Well in all honesty, it's a love/hate thing. As much as he drives everyone INSANE, he is a good guy, he just has no hobbies and his work is his life. And how could we let someone that has been around for 40 years (17 at our store) retire without doing something. He has no idea of our party and would be MORTIFIED if he knew we were taking up a collection for a gift. If he had it his way he would just walk out on his last day with a simple 'goodbye'. Well since that's NOT gonna happen, I need some help. Yikes! I didn't intend on that being so long...sorry.
Anyway, I have found 'A Friend to Me' by Garth Brooks and 'You've Got a Friend In Me' by Randy Newman, but not sure that the 'fit'. Got any suggestions?
My sister is the music director for a AC/Pop radio station so I have access to almost anything. I'd ask her but she's at the James Blunt concert in Detroit this weekend. So I figured I'd turn to you as I know you are very knowledgable in this field.
