Pandora ride height requirements

What kind of ride will Flight of the Passage be? Soarin style or like Harry Potter at Universal(it was a little too much for me :sad2:?
Also, will the other new ride fall off a waterfall like at MK and Jurrasic Park at Universal?
Thanks!

Ugh. I just read this and am so disappointed. I have a very adventurous 4-year-old who will be extremely sad about this height requirement. I was hoping that it would be 40 inches, since I had heard it was going to be something along the lines of Soarin'.

I'm thinking Flight of Passage must be a little more "movement" than soarin if it has the height requirement of 44 (rather than 40 like soarin). Or it just has different straps that you have to be taller to fit properly?

Sounds like the plan is to compete with Forbidden Journey.
Yes, however this won't be a Kuka arm like they use. You will be in a theater like Soarin' and in front of a big screen. The big difference will be in your seating.

My 4 year old will probably be ok, she was 43" last time I checked and this opens in 2+ months so she may grow another inch by then :rotfl2:

I guess the bigger concern is how scary is the ride? Is it too scary for a 4 year old? My daughter is generally fearless but it would be nice to see some reviews of the ride before blindly taking her on it.

If she is 43" barefoot, she'd probably hit it with sneakers on.

Yes my daughter can handle BTMM, Splash M, Soarin, Test Track but they are all 40" or less. She can't do EE or Space M. A bit concerned here that it's going to be too much in the way of either motion sickness or something else.

I don't read motion sickness into the height requirement but rather safety measures like on Space Mtn & EE. They need to fit the seats right.

I personally would have been bummed to read that it's only a 40" kiddie ride after waiting all this time for it to open....

Can she handle Star Tours?

Soarin' is probably my favorite ride in all of WDW. I don't consider it or TT, BTMRR, ToT, or Dinosaur to be "kiddie rides" either. I'm fairly confident Disney could have made a thrilling ride with a 40 inch height requirement.

OK, so not little little kid toddler size type but at least something with a little thrill to it. Soarin' is definitely not a thrill ride. I'm glad they didn't dumb this down. I think the higher the height requirement the better the ride will be for the overall general park attendees. Would you really like it if they had dumbed down EE to where it was 40"? It would be like 7D. Which is a nice ride for what it is but it's NOT a thrill ride. Kids will grow. I was really hoping for more like a 48" height. But oh well. I'll take the 44" over 40" any day. There's still no requirement on the boat ride so there's still that available for the toddlers.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to not consider ToT a thrill ride. I know a large number of adults that won't go on it. I hold to the theory that they could have a ride that is simultaneously thrilling and has a 40 inch requirement.

If I want straight up coasters, I'll head to my local Six Flags and ride Vertical Velocity or Raging Bull or something else with a 54 inch requirement. But Disney has never been about building rides to make you vomit. Well, other than Mission: Space. And we can see how popular that is. Soarin' and TT have 40 inch requirements, ridiculous lines every single day, and are in Tier 1 for FPs. Mission:Space has none of the above. Sometimes building in the biggest "thrill" factor is not the best way to go. I'm still excited to ride this in June, but I'm disappointed for my thrill ride crazed DD who will have to sit on the sidelines and be content with a "boat ride for toddlers."

ToT is able to provide great thrills with the 40" requirement becaus everyone is sitting on a bench, basically in a large cage. It doesn't really matter that it provides an obstructed view, because the open windows are so small.
A Star Tours or Simpsons type vehicle would not work either in providing a Banshee riding experience...because you don't sit in rows on a Banshee, and you don't have an obstructed view while riding an animal.

I think 44" is the the right call for the best Pandora experience.

I think it's possible that the Millenium Falcon flying experience in Star Wars Land could be very thrilling and have a lower height requirement...because it could have guests in an enclosed vehicle with obstructed views due to the interior of the spaceship.

It is what it is, but it's still a disappointment, especially at AK, where two of the six total rides have height restrictions of 44 inches or more. And Dinosaur has a lower restriction, but is still pretty intense for a lot of little kids. That leaves Kali, KS, and Triceratops Spin. Not a whole lot for smaller people. With the new rides, more than a third of the rides in the park are unavailable to smaller kids. Compare this to HS, which has one ride (RNRC) out of five over 44 inches, EP with one (Mission: Space) out of ten over 44, and MK, also with only one (Space Mtn) out of 26 that is 44. I have absolutely no issue with them building more 44 inch (or even 48 inch) rides, but AK was not the right place, with its dearth of unrestricted rides. I can only spend so much time in the Boneyard waiting while the rest of my group gets to go do "big" rides. :)
