So you want to be an adult athlete. It takes a whole new mind set. You have to pay attention to detail like never before. There are several reasons for that; first of all it keeps you focused and motivated, second it helps your overall fitness level and last but not least it's easier to make the switch from couch to road warrior if you change more of your life to complement the new you.
Make stretching a routine like eating and sleeping, yes you need it and most of us don't do enough.
Park your car further from your destination instead of trying to get closer. Parking at the far end of the parking lot and walking to your destination doesn't take any more time than searching for a closer place.
Scrub hard and really stretch out in the shower, the massage and loosening up helps you get going in the morning.
At work walk to a further restroom and or water fountian, a few extra steps do add up. Adding more trips to the water fountain helps keep you hydrated as well.
Pay attention to what you eat, if there is a high fat ingredient you can do with out then leave it out. Same with ordering at a restruant, ask to have the high fat stuff that's added left off.
These are just a few examples of things you can change. Keeping focused on the new life style and the new you will help make the transition much easier.
