One of the things you don't get on the boards but you do from your friends and training partners is TOUGH LOVE! Sometimes that is what we need. Those people who won't allow us to seep into a pity pool but tell us like it is. "If you want it then put your big boy/girl pants on and do it"! I get that from my friends and training partners when I need it and sometimes when that isn't what I want to hear. When what I really want is someone to justify my excuse and make it ok for me to go easy or not at all.
It's different if I'm hurt or tired from going to hard then I often need someone to slap me and tell me to give it a rest. Like the old athlete saying, "if you see me limping up to the start of a race please restrain me". It's even worse to over train than it is to under train.
I really like that Yoda quote, "Do or do not, there is no try". That's the mind set I need when I get ready to train for and do a Goofy. Last year I had to dig deep and find the full portion since life issues didn't allow me to train properly. My mantra for that little adventure was "Be strong, that was my only option, I didn't allow myself to accept failure. I swear that I'll never do that insanity again, my mantra for Goofy training this year is "Earn it".
We all need encouragement and motivation but we also need the kick in the seat sometimes also. Everyone train strong and rest well and listen to your friends and training partners. They often see what you don't.
Thanks for reading.
