I know we have all felt them the amazing sensations of being in love. Not just smitten but hopelessly, completely and truly in love. You can't wait to be with your love, every minute apart is a minute that you are thinking about your love. When your in a store you find that you are drawn to that section that your love likes, you start looking at the new styles, knowing exactly what your love would want. When you sit down for a meal it's a treat that your love likes. Your waking hours are spent planning for the next time you can be with your love.

Does that describe how you feel about training for your up coming races? Whether your in training for a 5K walk, a half marathon, a full marathon, or even the Goofy Challenge, if you make your training a labor of love you will do better and get more out of it.

Most of us use a race as the carrot that we are currently training for but it's really health and fitness that we are seeking, because once we do a perticular race we start looking ahead to the next one. It's a journey that should have no end, no finish line, just a continous labor of love for being healthy and being in motion.

Thanks for reading.

I think I'm like most male athletes, I have many more shoes for exercising than I do for working. I wait for sales to buy my clothes and shoes but if my walkers are getting worn they will be replaced whether there is a sale or not. I actually have never paid as much for my slacks for work as I do for my Nike running pants. I wait for year end clearance prices on my slacks but have paid full price for the Nike pants.

One reason that I put so much effort into my walking wardrobe is that I have to wear those items over 6 hours during marathons and over 2 and a half hours during a half. I have to wear them reguardless of the weather and I have to have stuff that won't chaff, won't come apart and won't hender my forward motion. They have to be comfortable and absolutly dependable.

See, I'm at that crossroads. I have really nice clothes. Since I recently lost alot of weight (not to mention 4 pants sizes and 1 shirt size), I had to replace all those really nice clothes. Suits, pants, jeans, everything! I wish I had of budgeted for running clothes too because I'm running in shorts and long-sleeve tees that are too big and aggravating.

I finally bought a pair of running pants a few weeks ago, but I'm having a really hard time justifying spending $40 on a t-shirt to run in or $30 on a pair of running shorts! I have really nice work clothes now, but I have a sickness. I'm a bargain shopper! I have really nice suits that I paid about 40% of what they're worth for. I just love searching for bargains. Unfortunately, I've not yet been able to do so with my running clothes and now, with the kids needing winter school clothes and Christmas around the corner, I certainly can't justify spending alot on winter running clothes.

Oh well! I guess most people would die to have the problem of needing new clothes because they lost a lot of weight. lol. Trust me, I'm soooooo not complaining! :rotfl:

Check out Dillards if there is one close to you. Right now the one here has all mens shortsleeve shirts and shorts for $7.99. I just picked up some shirts that retail for $50 to $80 for $7.99 and I can always use more cargo shorts.

I'm a bargin hunter also. I have to be since I like nice clothes.

There is a Dillards nearby so I'll have to do that. Since I live in South Ga., the weather is usually good enough I can run in Shorts and a long-sleeve shirt most days. It's been in the low 40's the past few days when I run and I've been sweating like crazy with my jacket and pants on.

Do you have an Academy Sports near you? I've found their house brand stuff surprisingly decent, and reasonably priced (and sales are even better!). I also found some stuff at TJ Maxx, and sometimes I order from Sierra Trading Post - their prices are good, their sales are as incomprehensible as airline fares, and their selection is spotty but generally high-quality.

I am a female, but I have tons more running shoes than non-running shoes. You are right, it's more important to be comfortable and have options when you'll be in them for hours on end.
My most expensive clothing purchase so far is a Nike running jacket that I just had to have. And, believe me, I love clothes.

As far as your first post, yes, I love running. It's been such a loss these 8 weeks, so I am more in love than I was 15 years ago when I first found running. ;)

We sometimes go to the GoodWill thrift store to pick up jackets for throw downs at chilly races. Only problem is that sometimes we find something that when it come to the throw down part we can't part with it.

I just read something that will be in my thoughts tomorrow when I do my speed interval workout. "I won't quit when I'm tired, I'll quit when I'm done".

No Academy Sports. Only Hibbett and a local store. It's sad really. I live outside a town of about 100,000 people so you'd think we would have better options when it came to sporting good stores. We do have a TJ Maxx, and I've never thought to look there.

What part of the country are you in brother?

We just got a running store but we have the Hibbetts also and a Durhams Sports, I still get everything at either Dillards or on line. I have lucked into a couple of items at Hibbetts, they carry Nike but never have it on sale. We have an outdoor sports store but they are absolutely retail and stock much more women's exercise clothing than mens. The carry NB but I find that NB clothes do not wear as well as Nike.

On the clothes topic now is the time to be testing lots of combinations for Disney in January since the temerture and conditions can vary greatly. I have done the marathon when it was in the 80s and the 20s, with wind rain and the chance of T Rex attack.

I live in South GA (outside Albany, GA). We've got alot of shopping here, but not too many Sporting Goods stores. Mostly hunting type stores which don't carry anything outdoors. We camp a few times a year and end up buying everything either online or at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc...

Albany just sucks for sporting good stores for some reason.
