Palo

what we feel the cost of the meal would be in the "real" world ... Per couple we have given $30 for Brunch and up to $100 for Dinner.

WOW! $50 per person seems like a lot. If that is a 20% tip, that means the meal would cost --:confused3 --- $250 each. I haven't been to Palo yet, but I an definately wanting to try this now.:rotfl2:

Alright, I have a question of a slightly different nature. Is it more kosher to take cash with you to leave as a tip?

Or do they have sort of like a credit card option where you can add it onto a slip and charge it to your KTTW?

i know this post is about tipping but is the 15 per person charged to our room or do we pay cash the night of dinner and at our brunch?

We always just put the tip on the key to the world card. I am not sure that it matters and I haven't thought to as what they prefer. We don't usually carry cash. We just had Palo there 2 weeks ago and we left $30 for the 2 of us. I think service there is GREAT. And I don't think they have many tables so we want to make sure they are taking care of.

The $15 per person is also put on your key to the world card. That card really is your way around the whole ship.

I really appreciate everyone's response. If anyone is sailing on the Magic, ask for Cecilia to be your server in Palo. She is by far the best. I hear Marco is now on the Wonder who is also very good.

Marco was promoted to manager of Palo last year. He switches out between the two ships to cover the regular manager's vacation. I am betting that he gets one of the restaurants on the new ships. :thumbsup2

No, I don't think that this meal was a $500 meal, but with the type of service and all of the courses that we were served really would have been an expensive meal if we had to pay for it. So a $100 tip to us was very well worth the experience. And yes the Palo servers do work really hard throughout the whole cruise. Also, the Palo servers are not included in the gratuities at the end of your cruise when you tip all of your servers and stateroom host.

That is why I believe they should be tipped well.
