My dh is not a "tie" person. We are in the construction biz so he never has to wear one. He doesnt mind dressing up at all, wearing a jacket, as long as it doesn't involve a tie! Anyway, if we go to Palo on formal night, do we miss a lot? Is that the night of the Captains Gala and is that a big deal on this ship? I like to dress up, but I am ok with doing the semi formal night.
Is it real hard to get ressies at Palo on formal night?

Thanks!

I think you could probably get away with a jacket at any of the dinners.

I would take a tie along. Even if you would get ressies at Palo, he might feel like putting on a tie since most pretty are pretty dressed. up.

If I remember correctly, and I may not, the Captain's Gala is Thursday night on the Magic. (That's lobster tail night, right!). That is the night we went to Palo. We went to our regular dinner seating first to feed the kids. DH had two lobster tails and an appetizer. Then we went to Palo. I can't believe the amount of food that man ate.

As far as I am concerned, there is no bad night for Palo. DH isn't big on dressing up either but I think he really enjoyed Formal Night and dressing up for Palo.

BTW we did not get out luggage until we arrived in St. Maarten (Tuesday). We were able to borrow formal wear from DCL. I got a nice dress and DH a tux. We bought princess dresses for the girls. We hadn't planned on wearing formal wear. But when it was all said and done, DH said he was really glad ge dressed up.
(DH is a carpenter too).

My hubby always wears one of those silk/knit tees under his jacket..it looks very nice and is more than acceptable at any dressy restaurant you may go to. Definately great for Palo.

If you go to Palo on formal night..about the only thing you miss is seeing all your table mates all dressed up as well.

Enjoy!

and the lobster! The guidelines say for formal night a dark business suit or tux. I dont want him to go out and buy a business suit he will never wear. If just a jacket and a dressy turtleneck or shirt under will be ok, that will work. I dont want him to feel out of place too if he feels he is the only one not wearing a business suit or tux. If many guys wear a real nice shirt under the jacket, he would be good with that.

Thanks for the help
