Palo Dress Code Changes?

We can hope. I will say that it seems to me most people still dress up a little for the MDRs even though everything short of swimwear is permitted. So maybe people will still dress up for Palo. I know I will.
I noticed this on my recent B2B. I was pleasantly surprised.

I think it may have been a year ago or so DCL was doing survey's on the website, I think this was a question that was asked.
People say they don't want to dress for dinner. DCL first responded to that with loosing up the dress code in the MDR and now in Palo.
For us, we will continue to wear dressier clothes, as others have said, It's part of the experience for some. I will still enjoy my meals there and focus on the company I am with during dinner.
I was definitely looking forward to getting decked out for brunch! Hope everyone still dresses the part..
We also look forward to getting dressed up for brunch and dinner at Palo.

We saw a few men without Ties last week.
I guess ties are no longer reqiured.

Were you on the Magic? If so, sorry we missed you. My DH was one of those at Palo brunch with no tie. He forgot to pack the 2 beautiful Disney ties I bought him last cruise, and given he only wears ties to weddings, funerals, and Palo and formal / semi-formal night, we couldn't justify spending $35 or whatever it was onboard to buy another one.

Hi there,

Sorry I was on the eastern Fantasy.

Hope to catch up with you next time.

And yes those Disney ties can get pricey.

It would be nice if DCL made one of the Dinner rotations Formal. So all the people that enjoy getting dressed up would be in the same restaurant together that night and the casual diners would be together too. It was silly on formal night when our tablemates were in shorts and we were in formal wear.

We never get dressed up at home any more and really enjoy the formal nights on the cruise. When everyone is dressed up, it really adds to the atmosphere. Makes everything more "Special".

I'm surprised jeans are now ok but tennis shoes are still out. IMO tennis shoes with Dockers looks better than jeans and dress shoes.
Anyway, it doesn't matter for me because I'm making my DH wear a suit so I can wear my black cocktail dress.

Bit disappointed too with this decision. Part of the reason I am looking forward to a Disney cruise is a bit of a traditional cruise experience. Don't know what we'll do for my husband's formal attire though. He has a tux jacket and kilt, and that's just too bulky to pack. :)

It's just the cruise industry adapting to the demands of customers. It wouldn't be my choice, but to be honest, extra cost restaurants also are not on my list of things that have been added that I like.
Probably shaped by my first cruise 36 years ago when the MDR had gourmet food and wine was included at no extra cost, suits were required for dinner except on formal night, when tuxes were required.
Hopefully some ships will retain the traditional cruise experience, but since DCL is a family cruise, it makes sense they would make these changes.
Our society is so much less formal. Until the 1970's, people actually dressed up to go to baseball and football games.
