Palo dinner vs. Remy dinner

Not sure what marathons on the verandah have to do with Palo lol but if it adds to the enjoyment then yay ;)

It's not that the noodles themselves weren't made fresh but that entire pasta dishes were packaged is what I found disappointing. We have some food sensitivities, we had asked our waiter about 3 or so pasta dishes and he told us "I'm very sorry, I asked the chef and those are brought on the ship packaged from stateside so we cannot change anything." I was rather surprised by this. I guess that makes me a food snob lol.

I do agree about the atmosphere. It's fairly quiet. We didn't get the views since it was after dark so all you really see is reflection.

Overall, I think it's an ok meal and worth the price they charge. I think I'm out of the norm as many on here think it's fantasti, so I thought maybe I was ordering the wrong things.
Wasn't aware of the allergies and I was under the the impression it was pasta only. Maybe if you called ahead a week before the cruise and see what could be done?

Both are wonderful dining experiences. They are very different though, and which one is right for you is hard to say. We've done both multiple times and usually stick with Palo. However, on occasion we go for Remy. We really do enjoy both. For us its more of a $$ decision.

A few years ago I wrote a review of each on FoodieTales. You can find the links in my sig below.
will check it out.. thanks so much!

First cruise and did Remy/with wine pairing Sat night with DH, MIL and SIL - really great personalized service - wonderful food - my DH and I are foodies - but others aren't as much - all had a great time - didn't get to do Palo this time - next though

Not to hijack-but, what do people order at Palo? I was really disappointed to find out most of their pasta is just pre-packaged versus fresh. Everything seemed just ok. I guess it was in line with a $30 meal, but folks on these boards tend to equate it to a much higher value.

If you like "elevated" food and don't mind paying the price tag, Remy is worth it. The cold courses were a bit bland, but the meal picked up steam with some very tastes dishes.

Be advised-Remy does not mess around with their shoe dress code haha.

It shouldn't be in line with a $30 meal, as it much higher. You've already paid for the main dining through your cruise fare, so the $30 is in addition to that price. I would equate it to closer to $100/pp meal.

We did the Palo brunch and dinner (didn't do Remy), and it was good, but not great. I certainly didn't think it was worth the extra money. We've already decided we won't be doing either on our next cruise, but would prefer the brunch over the dinner.

They also don't joke with the jacket dress code requirement either. The last cruise we were on the gentleman in front of me got rather agitated that he needed one. The CM never budged from the position either.

As for preferences, DW and I do enjoy Remy for the food and the experience, but then again I am a sucker for French table service.

thanks everyone for the great info! I went ahead and booked both Palo for brunch and dinner, as well as Remy for brunch and dessert.. i know.. i totally went crazy overboard..

Would love to hear from any veggie's experiences!
I'm a vegetarian and have done Remy dinner (on Dream and Fantasy), Remy brunch and Palo dinner and brunch. I LOVED LOVED LOVED Remy. We still talk about the food we had during those meals. I let the dining team know on the first day that I was vegetarian, and I called Remy the day before. They assured me I would be fine, and I was. Once we were seated they asked me if there was anything I was allergic to or didn't like. I left everything else in the hands of the chef and it was a delight. Don't worry if there isn't a set vegetarian menu. These chefs know what they're doing and they will take good care of you.

Palo? I liked it, but didn't fall in love with it the same way. I'd go back but it's not a full "experience" like Remy. Of course the price reflects that as well.

Thanks! This is very helpful and makes me more comfortable with booking it. Nothing is worse than booking an expensive dinner when you're vegetarian and you can only eat one or two things on the menu!

Not overboard at all! I am planning to book both Palo and Remy brunch, as well as Remy dinner. I am not fond of the Palo soufflé but love Palo brunch. Haven't tried Remy yet, so I have got to try both Remy brunch and dinner. Still thinking about the Remy small plate experience on embarkation day ... now that you mentioned about dessert ...

I really need to work on losing some weight before the cruise!
