Palo and regular restaurant in the same night?

Some of you had recommended doing Palo and the regular rotation on the same night so that you don't miss anything and are still able to make Palo. What I was wondering was how long it usually takes to do the whole Palo thing. I have booked the REAS for our next cruise in January, and instead of worrying about the whole rotation thing and trying to make sure to get all the restaurants in, etc, I think I just want to book Palo for early one evening (since we have late seating), and then do our normal restaurant later. Can anyone tell me about their experience with this???? :confused3
TIA!

We did Palo after our earliy seating. It worked out well, but DH was stuffed!

My only concern was that you might miss a show, which would be the same time as early seating. I can't remember, but when we did our double-dip, we either didn't want to go to the show that night, or we saw a matinee earlier in the afternoon.

They give you a two hour time span when you go on-line and book on DCL. We have been in and out in about 1 1/2 hours before. Then our last cruise, we were there forever. He was so slow. I think we were there for almost 3 hours.

2-3 hours is a great estimate on time for palo..we have eaten there many times and it is always the same.

Way too much food though, I wouldn't even think of doing both in one night. Just skip one of the dining rooms..or do what we did one night. Have dinner at Palo early..(if you have late seating), and then stop by your table and just have coffee and visit with your table mates. Or do this the opposite way if you have early seating..coffee first, and then Palo.

OK, so if we have late seating at 8:30, would we be safe doing Palo at 5? Or do they even open that early? With not knowing what rotation we'll have and not wanting to miss the restaurants, I don't want to chance missing one of them. So I figured that doing Palo and the regular restaurant on the same night was the best way to make sure that we get everything in.

We double-dipped, and it was fine.

Our Palo seating was for as soon as they opened, (I think 6:30?) Our server knew we wanted to do our regular dining rotation, so we still were able to make AP by 8:30.

We were also, stuffed as well, so we just had coffee while DD enjoyed her meal.

We've never missed any meals in the dining rooms on any of our cruises. It's our favorite activity, as we've usually been lucky with our servers and tablemates. We're fine, however, skipping a show. :earsgirl:

If I recall we took about a hour for the two of us for dinner. we sat and had a drink at the bar prior and got seated early. we didnt do a dinner prior and the kids had room service. we dropped them off at 7pm and picked them up around 9pm . we had a drink in the lounge after when we got beeped. we didnt do a show that night either.

I can't imagine eatting 2 meals that night. :scared1: I would throw up if I saw the site of food after eatting at PALO. :rotfl: There is so much food there...and they also bring out multiples of everything...Ohh thinking of all that food!!!!!!!!! :scared: lol

Another thing you can do is, look at the menus online, and decide which menu doesn't appeal to you as much, and pick that night to go to PALO.

Good luck with your decision,

Travis

Do most people miss the show the night they do Palo? Can you go to the early show even if you have early dining. For example, on the night of Palo go to the 6:30 show and then do Palo at 8? I would hate to miss the shows.

Yes, you could go to the early show.

Guys when you double dip you do not necessary eat at both meals. You need to eat at Palo's and just have coffe or whatever at your regular rotation. Double dipping does not mean to eat two meals. Unless youare hungry.

We did Palo at 6:30...had appetizers, Lobster Dinner and souffles and then met the DDs at our regular dinner place 8:45ish. They were eating their entries and we had coffee while they had dessert.
