Palm or Pocket PC

Can anyone share their experiences with the new palms or pocket pc's?

I'm thinking about getting one for xmas, and wanting to know people's feedback. I know they are available for a wide variety of prices.

I'm thinking about getting one with a phone, but they look to be over $500 unless you activate a new cell phone number.
If i got one with a phone then it would be one less thing i would have to carry around.
It would be nice for the organizational aspecs, contact list, meetings, and some seem to have memory for music/pictures.
Anyone who knows of any deals or discounts please let me know.

I have a Zire 72. I love it!! My DH had a different brand with a phone on it and it was not a good experience. That was 18 months ago, so they have probably made many improvements on them since then.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm also looking to get a Palm b/c my old one (like 4 yrs old) died and I bought a nice leather planner to take it's place. HAHAHAHAAA....yeah, like I ever look inside it....it's got pages to flip and it's too big. I want my Palmpilot back

I have an hp ipaq that has both wireless and bluetooth capability. I didn't go for the phone capability because while it's a handheld, it's a little big to slip into a pocket and that's where my phone is most of the time. Also, seems like getting the old tv/vcr combos - one goes down, both are unsuable while getting fixed. I like that I can write a note in my normal handwriting and it is right there saved as a little document. Because it has wireless capability, I can print via my network or print when I'm synched to my desktop. I think it's useful to have especially if doing a lot of business travel but I'm not using it as much with just grad school on my schedule. If you get a pocket pc, make sure you get one with the 2005 OS.

I have a Dell Axim Pocket PC and love it! I prefer the Pocket PC because it runs on a Windows based operating system rahter than the Palm OS. I also opted for the wireless and bluetooth connections. Be sure to get some good games for it too... its great to pull it out when your waiting at the Doctor or elsewhere and be able to play a quick game of scrabble or tetris.

I have a Palm Zire 71 and DH has a Treo phone.

He loves his Treo, especially the ability to check email.

My Zire 71 is OK. It's approaching 2 yo and is starting to malfunction a little bit (address book won't sync anymore, and touchscreen is very tempermental). I might ask for a new one for Christmas...or just wait for my bday in June.

I have a Treo 600 with Sprint service. I really love it. It is smaller than the old Treo 300 (which I had before).

The Treo 650 has bluetooth service. I think that's the main difference. The 650 may also have video in addition to a still camera. Neither was of much interest to me so I did not upgrade.

Because it's not the latest I think there are some really good values on the Treo 600.

I love being able to check my email and even surf a little from the Treo. I've even DISed from it. My Sprint plan doesn't cost anymore to do this nor does it uses any of my minutes to connect to the internet.

I like having only one device as my purse doesn't get too cluttered or I can just put it in a pocket.

Does anyone know of a good site that reviews these types of devices. I was looking on epinions yesturday. Its seems many of the duo devices with the phone get nasty reviews. I'm not sure if its one of those items the only people with problems report?

I'm a former Palm owner and am on my 2nd HP Ipaq 6315 now thru T-Mobile and love it. The color screen is plenty big enough to surf the web via the GPRS or WiFi service but still small enough not to be a pain to carry around to use as a phone. Mine does have Bluetooth capability that I love! I do also have a Sprint cell phone so I dont use my Ipaq as a phone unless I have to (TMobile has much better coverage in certain areas then Sprint).

I looked around for months before deciding on the Ipaq. There are still a few bugs to be worked out of this system but for the most part it is a great tool for the business traveler!
