And so it begins....... yes, I'm starting to have my way too predictable, last minute, 2nd thoughts. :rolleyes1 (Redundancy is another of my faults, BTW.) The current instigator of the madness is Palm Restaurant. Thanks to my chronic insomnia, I was up reading restaurant reviews most of the night. Palm Rest. @ HRH seems to get less than stellar reviews, & isn't compared favorably with other Palm Restaurants. We haven't eaten at a Palm Rest. Therefore, we have no personal point of reference.

So, for those of you who have eaten at both Palm & Mama Della's, which would you choose? The days are quickly counting down, & satisfactory dining plans are more important than packing clothes, don't you know? :teeth:

FYI, we're staying @ HRH, if it matters in your decision making process. :)

I have eaten at both. Palm one time, Mama's at least three times. I have no plans to return to Palm. Now Mama is another story. :thumbsup2

I would definitely pick Mama Della's just for the atmosphere alone even if I liked the Palm, which I don't. And I don't like the Palms that I've eaten at in other cities (when it wasn't my turn to pick the restaurant) due to the noise level, lack of ambiance, and lack of anything that makes it different from any other American restaurant that charges too much for their offerings.

You are correct in the reviews you are reading. Palm at HRH is horrible, both food and service.

Moma Della's on the other hand is fantastic. You will love it!

The Palm is overrated in my opinion. Mama Della's is delicious and different. Without a doubt I would eat at Mama Della's over The Palm.

Well, we leave tomorrow, & my DH is still leaning toward Palm. He said he didn't want Italian. If I can convince him that he can get a meal that doesn't include pasta or meat/ cream sauce, he may go for it. I'm the one in the family who could eat pasta every day. I don't care for pasta prepared w/ tomato based sauce though. I prefer cream, clam, etc. sauce. Now, I just have to scan the menus @ MD & Bice & find a dish that doesn't scream "Olive Garden" Italian to entice him with. :teeth:

Vitello Marsala O Piccata - Veal Medallion with Marsala Wine Sauce or Lemon Caper Sauce $29.25/ $27.95

Filetto di Manzo Toscano - Grilled and Sliced Beef Tenderloin with Caramelized Onions and Garlic Smashed Potatoes $32.25/ $30.50

These two dishes are done to perfection and delicious.

I'm showing him your post now. It just may work. :teeth:

tarheelmjfan, your houseold sounds so like mine. DH is not a big Italian fan and I could eat pasta 3 meals a day. He's already said he doesn't really want Italian when we go, these entrees may change his mind. if you do dine there, please post his choice and his review! Enjoy your trip.

Woo Hoo! Hope it works! However if this did not work Plan B is where you tell hubby they have ANYTHING His heart desires on the menu, weather it does or not. Of course this is only due to all YOUR planning and him wanting to make you noting but happy. :sunny:

Yeah right! You think that's the reason he wants to keep me happy? How long did you say you'd been married? :lmao: He wants to keep me happy, so I keep cooking good meals at home for him, of course. ;)

Yes, and the good meals you'll be cooking at home must originate from a yummy meal cooked at Mama Della's.

Oh and married 18 years soon and they all know, mama aint happy aint NOBODY happy. :cool1:

We stay at the HRH once anually and we never miss the Palm. If you like Lobster, Steak, Seafood, etc. Palm is good. If you like Lobster, splurge on it - you won't regret it. The Palm is expensive but in our mind, you get what you pay for.

I love The Palm! We've been to many of them. It's loud and bright and busy at HRH, just like the others, only not as crowded as most that we'd been to before. Even our kids, it was their first Palm experience, want to go back again and again.

As for Mamma Della's... I thought it was as good as Olive Garden, and I can take or leave OG. But, when you live in a largely Italian area with REAL Italian food, everything else isn't as good... like Mamma Della's, like Olive Garden. Give me a great steakhouse, or a local Italian eatery any day of the week!

We're back & we decided to skip the Palm rest. We walked by there late in our stay & regretted it. :guilty: We'll definitely be dining there next time. We really enjoyed Mama Della's though. Our meal & service were both fantastic. Much better than Olive Garden, IMHO. Next time, we'll skip Tchoup Chop in favor of MD or Palm. We'll also dine at Mythos for lunch & try Bice for dinner.

Welcome back! Hope you had a wonderful vacation with the family! :)
