Hi girls,

Lee has said thet he would like to buy me a new engagement ring as he feels embarrased about the one I have now (he bought it 11 years ago when we were poor and it was super cheap).

my ring has loads of sentimental value so I'm not sure I want to change it :confused3

anyway......

We have been looking at wedding rings. We both really love platinum but have found palladium which is stronger, cheaper and has just been hallmarked.

I have found a lovely wedding band but because it is palladium it wont go with my yellow gold engagement ring.

we both decided that I would look for a new engagement ring and wear my old one on my left hand.

Heres the problem...

I cant find a solitaire engagement ring in palladium metal ?

So I wondered if any of you girls in the states have seen any whilst you have been out looking at rings.

I figured I might have a better chance getting one in the US than in Britain.

Thanks

My daughter got engaged in May and the ring her fiancee gave her was set in yellow gold (a very old setting ) anyway, they took the ring and had it reset in a solitare setting of paladium. She was told just like you that it is stronger than the other metals she was looking at like white gold and platinum. It is beautiful now. I will try and post a picture of it on here if I can get it moved from where it is now so you can see it finished.

Bailey Banks and Biddle has a number of gorgeous solitaires. We also purchased our bands there which are Palladium. The price of Palladium is currently on the rise though and we were told it would be catching up to Platinum very quickly!

Ok after a couple of tries I finally got it on here. I am not sure if I have a picture of what the ring looked like originally if I do I will add it later so you can see the difference the stone looks much better in this setting than the original

I too am getting a palladium e-ring. We're ordering my ring from exceldiamonds.com (sorry it won't let me link it I don't have enough posts) they also have a store in NYC, and they will make any of their rings in palladium. They have a great selection, and I'm pretty sure will ship overseas (though you might have to pay for insurance) I highly recommend them, they've been so nice to work with.

Good luck!

I had a look on their site but there was no rings I could look at, but there is a store in one of the orlando malls so I will take a look when we are there in a few months. Thanks

Oh wow, that is very similar to a tiffany ring - just beautiful, Where did she get it?

Had a look there but it will cost too much for customs and excise once its delivered. Thanks anyway :) oh - do they have a store in orlando?

My daughters ring (the one in the picture) didn't look like that when her fiancee gave it to her. It was a ring that had been in his family that his mom gave him to pass on to Megan. When she first got it it was in a yellow gold setting and there were only 4 prongs on the diamond, when she first sent me a picture of it the diamond actually looked square!! It was really strange, a pretty setting but VERY OLD. Rene her fiancee knew she wanted white gold so they took it and had it reset. The jewler told them about the palladium being stronger and not needing as much upkeep as either white gold or platinum so that is what they went with. They live in Dallas, Texas and went to a family owned jewlery store there to have it reset. I can get the name of the shop if anyone here is interested. She knew that she wanted a simple setting for the ring and she had shown me pictures of the Tiffany ring and it does look like it. She figures with a simple engagement ring she can do more with her wedding band when the time comes.

I would love to see wedding bands that you girls have. They make so many amazing things now to kind of mix and match.

Oh yeah, I didn't think about customs... too bad, because they do Tiffany replicas for like 1/4 of the cost - and they're so good they've been known to fool Tiffanys!

As far as I know, they just have the 1 store in NY.

Good luck!
