Our family loves Italian food, especially our pre-teen kids. Just wondering if Palio is a good choice for Italian food. I haven't read much about this restaurant so I'm wondering if it gets much consideration as being one of the better places at WDW. Does it have good food? Is it a restaurant that is appropriate for a family of four with two kids? Thanks!:wave2:

From the research that I have done on this restaurant, it has gotten excellent reviews from food critics. It appears to be a little more formal in terms of atmosphere then a lot of the Disney restaurants. Italy in Epcot has excellent food and maybe more suitable to your kids. ::MickeyMo

We ate at Palio in February and thought the food was excellent. Our waiter was a burly New Yorker but very accommodating and attentive. My mother and I were able to get entree-size portions of Risotto Con Porcini (mushroom risotto), which was only listed as an appetizer. It was creamy and the mushrooms were flavorful. My sister had a tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil salad (which we sampled -- yum!) and goat cheese pizza, which she deemed excellent. The waiter also accommodated my dad's request to have meat sauce with his ravioli. Dad also enjoyed the house salad, which I believe had Gorgonzola cheese and nuts. The evening was made extra special by a strolling singer/violin player who took requests. I think Disney Vacation Club members get a discount there as well! Enjoy!

Palio has excellent food, with a good selection to choose from.
It does appear to be one of the more adult/romantic dining locations at WDW, but there were children there when we visited in January, and they did not seem out of place.

Another thumbs up for PALIO's. Food is very good, atmosphere is relaxing (they have a strolling guitarist) and the service has been excellent. The last time we were there the waiter just teased the heck out of our 5 yr old dd, got her all wound up, but she had a blast!!

It seems like it would be a sophisticated place but it is quite family friendly. We enjoy this restaurant very much. I've had the tortellini with lobster dish, delicious but huge! You can easily split it and last time I think I had a flatbread pizza which was also very good.

Definitely recommend having dinner here!

Have been there twice - very good food, attentive service, just fine for the kids. Doesn't get overcrowded, so can be a very relaxing meal.

.......looks like this will be on our itinerary when we visit WDW this December. Thanks again!
