Palin with Couric.

Nope... what I'm saying is that I have questions about both Obama and Palin's experience as it pertains to the presidency.

But, McCain's choice of Palin as a running mate makes me question his WISDOM in terms of the choices he will make as president.

I will take an inexperienced, intelligent man who made (I believe) a wise choice for VP over an experienced, intelligent man who's choice for VP put's his WISDOM in question any day.

There are many things about the presidency that NO experience can prepare you for... in those cases, your intellect and wisdom are what you have to rely on.

So basically you won't support mccain because it shows bad judgement because he picked someone a VP, who has not been in public office a very long time, yet, you will support Obama for Pres, eventhough he too has not been in public office that long?

with that logic, you should have doubts on the WISDOM of the people who voted Obama in during the primaries?

As I said in my previous post... I freely admit that it is questionable.

But, you (deliberately?) ignore my point.

We all know that the electorate can make questionable choices... that is the nature of elections.

But what the choice of Palin did is confirm that McCain made a highly questionable choice... one man, one choice - she is his responsibility.

By the way... not that it's exactly relevant to my point... but I personally don't think that either Obama or Palin should be disqualified from being president because of their lack of experience. I believe that the bureaucracy is critical to the operation and effectiveness of the presidency... that's why it is there... I believe, from what I've seen, that Obama and McCain would both be better than W. has been.

My point in this line of reasoning is that it's hypocritical to slam Obama on experience, when Palin is at least as inexperienced... especially when the choice of Palin speaks to McCain's fitness to be president.

He was elected in '04. He assumed office in January '05.

Oops... my mistake.

I knew he wasn't a Senator in '04 at the Democratic convention... fired off a post without thinking through the timeline.

Glad I wasn't answering a journalist's question while running for office there.

;)

But that is my point, many are saying that Obama has not been a Senator as long as Palin has been Governor and that is not true.

Obama has been running for President just as long as Mccain has too.

"Nucular." --Sarah Palin, mispronouncing the word "nuclear" twice, ABC News interview, Sept. 11, 2008

I don't usually post on political threads, but I wanted to thank you for this...I thought I was going nuts when I heard this in the interview, and didn't believe that I really did..

Weren't there a couple media outlets that posted Palin's speech with "nuclear" spelled out phonetically, forgetting to correct it beforehand?

I don't know, but when I was watching the interview and she said or didn't say it, I said out loud-loudly--"DID SHE JUST SAY NUCULAR?"

And here is another portion of the interview. To be played this evening.

Quote:
COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land-- boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters--

COURIC: Mock?

PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our-- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia--

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state
.

She better be careful about what she says about Russia.......

Why is she trying to make more enemies for us?

Goofyluver - DH just sent me that link. OMG!!! I don't know if I want to laugh or cry. I guess any Chief Executive of a state that borders a foreign country has foreign policy experience. Interesting......

I had to show DH the clip because he thought that someone was making this stuff up!!! He was astounded that it's real. He said it's like a parody of a politician that you would see on Sat Night Live!! Scary times! :scared:

It is quite common knowledge, that words are spelled phonetically in speeches. This has been commented on by the MSM and is a common practice.

Yes, this is true. My DDad teaches television production and many time I have helped him create mock news casts. All the scripts have names in all caps and anything that looks like it might cause trouble spelled phonetically.

With Palin what drives my nuts, besides nucular, is the fact that she drops all her "ing" endings....argh! and says "ya" for you. I am all for folksy when it is appropriate, but she takes it the the nth degree.

Quite aware of that, thanks. ;) I only mentioned it because it was "corrected" for her convention speech, but she's gone back to the other pronunciation since then. Considering the amount of ribbing Bush has had, I would think one would be more careful when using that word.

Someone please say it's April 1.:scared:

It's April 1st. Feel better now?

:rotfl:

I know, the nucular thing gets me too. Reminds me of Obama calling Massachusetts....Massatoosits!
