Paleo eating in the World

Thanks for asking! I've been curious about this myself. I'm a clean/slow food person and by default that is very similar to Paleo. I'm planning to let some things slide on vacation but it's hard to change gears! Have a great trip.

Go to Teppan Edo for sure - the grilled meats and veggies are amazing.

Are you sure there's casein in them? Maybe I'm missing something. Here's the ingredients from the manufacturer for the pineapple Dole soft serve:

Sugar, Dextrose, Coconut Oil, Stabilizers (Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavor (contains Pineapple Juice), Modified Food Starch, Malic Acid, Beta Carotene (Color), Mono & Diglycerides, Less Than 2% Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking).

I don't have a milk allergy (just a post-Paleo gluten intolerance), but I feel better when I avoid it and ice cream is my favorite "cheat". Pineapple Dole whips are my favorite snack at WDW so I give myself some wiggle room there. Especially last time, when I managed to get to Captain Cook's and hit the self-serve machine!

And they have a lot of sugar in them, but I'm only on vacation a few days out of the year. I usually eat 90/10, but if I am 80/20 (or less, who are we kidding) on vacation, I'm happy.

I believe the ingredients were recently changed and casein was removed, making them non-dairy.

My husband was obsessed with the veal shank from Citricos...it's all the other stuff that goes with it that's the issue! :) He'll just have to figure it out!

I agree with the 80/20 ratio! :)

Check out the menu at a new restaurant that just opened near WDW if you have a rental car. Cave Inn Bbq caters to Paleo and Primal dieters:

I can't wait to try it in 3 weeks when we arrive in Orlando as well as all of the other suggestions people have posted on this thread! Thanks everyone!

I just turned Paleo 8 weeks ago and will be blogging about my upcoming trip to Walt Disney World here:

CanadianDISfan, skimmed through your blog very quickly (plan to return for more in-depth reading) but loving that you included such great pictures! I think that's why I only skimmed as I was getting hungry from looking at the food pictures :rotfl: Can't wait to get back to reading your blog.

I've started on the Paleo/Primal lifestyle (I guess I'm mostly Primal but ditched the diary (primal allowed cheese and yogurt) after a couple weeks to see if that'd allow me to shed more bodyfat which I think it has). I've loving being Primal! Food tastes better!! I feel more healthy. More consistent energy (though I'm feeling tired/ready for bed earlier :confused3 ). It's hard to explain but I feel as if it's a different kind of tired...as if my body is more aware that it needs to recover (in the form of sleep). Hopefully that makes sense! :)

Along with embracing a Primal lifestyle, I'm trying to tailor it to a runner's lifestyle as well as I've recently found a love of running. I'll be running soon in the Charles Street 12 mile race as a Primal runner as a warm-up to the Wine & Dine Half Marathon! I'm so extremely excited for the Wine & Dine race (as well as the subsequent "vacation" at WDW afterwards). I'm hoping to be mostly Primal while at WDW in November, but know that with Wine & Dine festival going on as well as the added requirements of a half marathon (oh and the 5K with my family), I might need to alter things a bit.

I'm enthused to read about others following a Paleo/Primal lifestyle while on vacation at WDW. :thumbsup2

The New Harambe Market at Animal Kingdom has a really yummy grilled chicken skewer with a marinated broccoli salad! Worth a visit!
