The new one is super cute. Love the tux. I like our Pal Mickey, but he is pretty expensive. I hope that they don't keep bringing out new editions...new outfits would be good though!

I just purchased the old version (it came to $22.94 with shipping.) I was told that it will take 3-4 weeks to ship. They do still have both English and Spanish available.

Now a couple of question:

1.) Will the clothes for the new one fit the old version?
2.) How do you carry the old version? I heard that the clip he comes with isn't the best. Could I buy a lanyard to hook him too? Would a bottle strap work?
3.) For those that ordered the old version, how long did it actually take to get?

I figured that for $23.00 I couldn't go wrong. I really wanted him on our last trips but didn't want to pay all that money for one (I was going to rent one, but they stopped that right before my first trip.)
I don't have kids, but I think he will be fun. I am so happy to get one; now I just need to get to WDW!!

I just LOVE Pal Mickey. He is great. I have found though in an informal poll of oberservation and questioning around the park that the majority of adult couples with Pal Mickey fall into this category:

The woman bought him, thinks he is wonderful, the man finds the rat annoying and hates it when she makes him hold him but goes along with it so he can have nooky later.

I find yoking him on a bottle leash works best. His clip fell off and was lost 2 hours into his maiden voyage.

I vote "yes" for getting a Pal Mickey even though you are a party of two adults. My hubby and I are excited about getting one on our next trip.

I just ordered one from Character Premiere....$23 w/shipping & tax.

Just a warning: Listen carefully to your total. She quoted me $40 and I said the person that answered confirmed it was $13.99. She said yes, that is the price, I don't know why its ringing up that way. She had to cancel the whole transaction and start again, but it was right the second time.

I also asked her to test the one she planned on shipping out. I don't think anyone has had problems but I always have the worst luck. She said if something went wrong, and changing the batteries didn't work...to save all the paperwork and call the manager. Then I can probably arrange an exchange during my trip.

I could have saved myself the $9 shipping and bought it once I got down there but I figured, this way I don't have to worry about them running out and I can have it for the whole trip (not just from the time of purchase...who knows when I will be able to escape the *world* for a trip to the outlet...tho I totally intend to make it happen at some point).

My neighbors brought their pal mickey over yesterday. The little turds plan on buying the new 50th version but wont let me buy the original from them...heck I even offered to pay a fee to rent it, but they wouldn't budge. Oh well...at least I got to play with it some.

PS whoever said its on Kindergarten level is off some. My daughter is soon to be 9 and in the fourth grade and she had fun playing the games....and she loves corny jokes (at least the ones she gets). Shes not slow or dumb either (in fact she reads about 1 {100+ page} book a day). I was having fun playing the parks game...mickey names an attraction and you have to squeeze a certain part (like tummy for MK) to respond to its location and it goes a bit fast so it can be challenging.

can you arrange a stop at the character premiere? Its at the orlando premium outlets about 8 mi from WDW..an 11 minute drive. If you're worried about them running out, I'd call and ask if its possible for them to hold one, or for you to pay for it with your credit card and them hold it til Wed. or whenever you think you can get over there.

for those who have both the newer version and older version of pal mickey, is there any difference in the content of what he will tell you while you are in the park. I have read about the upgrades in the clip and volume of his voice but does the newer one actually talk more as well?

I just went to Michaels to look at bear clothes for my mickey.
I got a t-shirt that says "I love the USA" a sunvisor hat with sunglasses up on the brim....(so cute ). & a newsboy style hat with a silver star on it.
the clothes fit perfectly! < I took him with me, to try them on> ( I didn't bother with the pants, since I like the ones mickey already has. they even have backpacks & stuff. I also didn't buy him shoes, since I thought he was heavy enough!

oh btw,,,,,,, WHAT do you do with MIckey while on rides??? do you bring a bag to stuff him into ( ouch) ????

I have both the newer and older versions. Love(d) them both! So much fun!
I am a disney expert but Mickey told me interesting things.
As for rides he goes on them with me I just strap him in lol!

We bought one of my sons a Pal Mickey this last trip. He LOVES it. We got the free DVC t-shirt and my son would change his clothes. I would hold it on most of the rides but when my son would hold it, he would make sure that Mickey was safely in his seat belt too. A couple of days it started to rain, I would just go into a store and get a bag to put Mickey in.
Mickey was the most helpful in Animal Kingdom. We learned all kinds of facts about the animals on the trails.
My boys are 7 but they are completely different. The other one had NO use for Pal Mickey. All he wanted to do was go to the Star Wars gift shop and make sure he picked out enough toys to equal his brother's Mickey in price.

Got my Pal Mickey today in the mail. However it seems the belt clip was broken so i've gotta call the number on the packing slip to report the problem. I hope i don't have to send the whole thing back just to have the belt clip replaced.

Yes there are several differences. The old Pal Mickey won't tell you about the newer stuff in the park (wasn't a part of his original programming), he mixes in trivia with his jokes while you're walking around, and has some different trivia/jokes that the first didn't. Aside from that he is more or less the same. I would say around 70% of his content is the same as the old one.
