is pal mickey really worth it? i was thinking of getting one cheap via e-bay. will it need updating, and how much does this cost, or should i just not bother

Pal Mickey is great. He updates for free when you walk through the park daily. We enjoy ours when we have company and we tour the parks.

I was wondering about the new ones. I bought one when they first came out -- they've come out with a new edition of them; haven't they? How are they different?

For the OP -- we enjoyed the one we have, but kind of got tired of carrying him around. Just being honest!

I bought my new Pal Mickey during our trip in July. I LOVE him. Never stops talking and he gave me alot of info I didn't know about.

My Dsis had the old version and although they say that they update in the park automatically, hers never seemed to talk as much as mine although she had put a set of fresh batteries in. She went to a place in town square...not sure if it's cinema Hall or Expositon hall and this lady apparently put som device next to his head to update him.

He talked as much as mine after that....until he died in the Dinosaur attraction!!! My sister lost im during the ride, she was so sad. Filled a report and everything but no Pal Mickey was found. I think he may have been crushed under those jeep wheels.....

My sister got her DH to buy her the new one so she did not stay sad for very long!

I was also very surprised to see that not many people had a Pal Mickey in the parks. Although it is pretty expensive, he is alot of fun.

What happens when you go into rides? Does he be quiet so he doesn't disturb anyone?

ROTHLOL!

Thanks for the great laugh! That struck me as soooo funnnnnny! My kids thought I was pretty weird laughing at the computer!
:rotfl: :rotfl2:

My mom loves our pal mickey, but after awhile he got on everyone else's nerves. :earseek:

Love My Pal Mickey and he has gone back to the parks with us ever since I got him his first year out! He seems to sense when we are on rides and remains quiet. I have never had to turn him off.

Some people don't like him (think his jokes are corny), some people think he is OK for short periods, some people love him. I love him, corny jokes and all. He's My Pal! :goodvibes

That is the saddest thing I've read in a long time. :sad1:

how much is Pal mickey now?

I rmember being down at Disney with my cousins the first month he was out. They gave DVC members take Pal Mickey free for a few days and try him out. He almost never talked tho, so we passed on getting him, sounds like they have updated it quite a bit now.

I love my Pal Mickey, it was like having another person on the trip with us ::MickeyMo During shows he stays quiet, but we did have him talk on a few rides, like telling us that he was scared on the HM :scared1:

Good to hear that they can update him for my next trip! :cool1:

I have the first version, and now just purchased the new version. The new version does say more things (I got so I knew what the old Pal Mickey would say around each attraction), and also plays more games than the old version. This new version also has a small medallion on his hand. If you have also purchased what Disney calls the "glow medallion" (large gold-colored pin that you wear), you can press the medallion on Pal Mickey's hand, and it activates the glow medallion to light up. Pal Mickey will also activate other people's glow medallions as well. So yep, some new features with the new version.

I have the 'old' pal mickey and he definitely goes off on rides....particularily Peter Pan! His voice is so low that he doesn't distrub anyone, and he vibrates to let you know he has something to say so you can either choose to ignore him or listen to him!

Pal mickey has pride of place next to my bed, Since coming home from Disney June 2004 we have hardly played with him but i still think he was well worth the money. He told us things that we would not have normally known and keeps the children amused in the lines waiting to go on rides. When we go back in November we are taking him again, i will not buy the new one is good enough for what i want.

Does anyone know is they are selling the pal mickey clothes yet?

Donna

I love my pal mickey too. I didn't notice him talking on any of the rides, except he did talk in Mickeys Philharmagic. I am thinking of getting the new Pal Mickey as he is a little louder so you can hear him better. With the old Pal mickey, I had to put him up to me ear to heart him.

The clothes for pal mickey are now supposed to come out sometime around dec. However many people dress thier mickeys in clothes taken from other plush or bought from different stores that sell a line of clothing for bears..most build a bear outfits i'm told are to big. if you go to palmickey.net you will find a whole community of dedicated and very informed pal mick owners.
