We were toying (get it) with the idea of purchasing a Pal Mickey for our upcoming trip to the World. Do you think it is worth the money? I thought my boys would get a kick out of it.

Thanks.

We bought our Pal Mickey last December. Our kids (ages 4 & 11) really love carrying him around. He plays games and tells interesting facts about the park. There's alot of cute jokes too. He still plays the games when you get home. You can rent Pal Mickey at most of the theme parks. Then if you decide to keep him, they deduct your rental cost from the total price.

Another great thing is a little handheld video game. It has one game loaded into it. Then as you go through the different parks, you can download different games. I think there's something like 10 different games. My 11 year old plays with this more than Pal Mickey now.

We rented Pal Mickey for a day and were not impressed. Cute, he is, but we could not hear him unless we actually held him up to our ears. Did we have a defective Mickey, or are they all like that?

Pal Mickey has some good tips and the games he will play are great way to pass time in attraction ques.::yes:: :wave2:

We were thinking about it too but then I read, I forget where, that he got a little annoying after a while. He talks too much. We decided to forget it. :)

You might not be able to hear him in a noisy theme park. That's why you can just press his hand and he repeats what he just said. I bought a Pal Mickey on my last trip and I really liked it. I like how he will tell you secrets about the parks that you might not know- for example, we were walking by the Indiana Jones show at MGM and he told us to pull the rope on the wishing well. At the AK he pointed out animals that we would have otherwise passed right by. -Stephanie

We just got back and at Marketplace my BF decided to buy Pal Mickey instead of renting it. What a great purchase! We took him to all the parks and he would entertain us with his cheesy jokes and games! We decided against hanging him on the hip and instead, used a lanyard (is that what they are called?) to hold Mickey instead. He was like a instant Mickeypurse!

He shakes and giggles to tell you he has something to say. And you can have him repeat himself up to 3 times I think by pressing his stomach or his hands. And we thought he was loud enough. We had a group of five and between Mickey repeating himself, we were able to share his "wisdom" between all of us.

The cutest thing he said was when we left Epcot. He said something like, that was a great trip into Epcot. It's been a long day so I hope you do'nt mind by i'm going to take a rest now! :)

Isn't he $65?? I know it's Disney but I still have a hard time paying $65 for a plush toy, interactive as he may be. That just seems a bit high for what it is.

does anyone know much about these hand held video games, mentioned in one of the reply's to Pal Mickey?
Where do we get these hand held video games, how much do they cost, what is the official name of the hand held games?
I have a 9 year old who whould probably enjoy playing this as we are standing in lines at the parks while we are at WDW....

I'd be interested in knowing about the hand held video game too.... the pal Mickey will be great for teh 4yo but I'm sure my 10yo ds would prefer a game!

We just got back from Disney on Saturday. We bought Pal Mickey & I loved him. My husband thought he got kind of annoying, but I am more a Disney nut then he is. He is $60.00 and can be bought in most stores. We always took a back pack and we zipped him into the top of it and had just his head & an arm sticking out and then when he laughed and shook one of us pressed his hand. The only place we had a hard time hearing him was at the MK. When ever we were at an attraction Pal Mickey would stop talking, except at the Country Bear Jamboree....in the middle of the show he started laughing and shaking and the only way to get him to stop was to listen to what he had to say. All in all he is great and that is coming from a 25 year old & 30 year old on their honeymoon.

It is called Disney's Magical Moments Game. We purchased our little hand held game at the Port Orlean Riverside General Store. But I saw them at the Beach Club Store this last June as well. It's in the shape of a Mickey head. NOTE: There are 2 games in the shape of Mickey Heads. The video game one is the bigger Mickey head. The small Mickey head is trivia. I think I paid something like $15.

You download various games throughout the different parks as you go to the different attactions. The games that I remember are Cinderella Castle, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World, Dinosaur, Spaceship Earth, It's Tough to be a Bug, Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror. I think there are 16 games in total.

Thanks for the info on the games. I will have to pick a couple up for my DS's 7 & 5. One thing, how do you download the games?

When you go to the attraction that the game is based on, you point the game towards the attraction and press one of the buttons. It's kind of like using a TV Remote control and it downloads the game as you stand there. Most of the games are downloaded as you're waiting in the line for the attraction. For Tower of Terror, you had to point the game towards the fast pass distribution area. We were able to get all of the game that way except two. My daughter just asked the nearest Cast Member at the front of the lines and they always told her where to download the games at.

Do all of these games stay in the system?? can you still play the games when you aren't in the world or is it only good while you are there??

Once they're in the game, they stay there.

When we bought it, we didn't know you had to download the extra games. So we bought it our last day at WDW. My daughter thought it was broken since it only had 1 game on it. But after reading the instructions we learned about having to visit the attractions to get the other games. Since we were not able to get back to the parks on that trip, we brought the game back to WDW with us 6 months later and "gathered" all the games. The only game we're missing is Small World. IASW was closed when we were there in June. So we didn't even bother to try to get it. I know IASW is still going to be closed in December, but we'll try anyway.

I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but it's a Mickey PDA. I saw it on the Laughing place store. Here's the link if anyone is interested for those in-between ages. PDA I bought my DD(8) the Lizzie McGuire PDA at the Disney store. She loves having her own "blackcherry" as she calls it.
