Where can you buy a Pal Mickey? Are they worth it or are they a big hassle?

You can buy Pal Mickey at most of the resort gift shops and at least one store in every park sells him (there's a symbol on the park map indicating these stores). Is he worth it?--only you can decide. He's $60 or $8/day to rent. He tells you park facts, corny jokes, when lines are short, and when parades and shows are coming up. He also plays 3 games. At home he'll keep entertaining you with the games and jokes. I'd suggest renting for a day or 2 to see what you think. He is kind of heavy to carry and the belt clip they include doesn't really work unless you're wearing a belt (or at least pants/shorts with a stiffer waistband than I had). Also, unless you're carrying a backpack, you might find him cumbersome on thrill rides/roller coasters. I had a backpack and kept him in it when I went on rides like that.

I definately suggest renting him for a day. I did and hated lugging him around. Yet others really enjoy him. Personally he's very heavy and clumsy and is constantly laughing at something. To much for me.

So what happens with Mickey if you don't have a backpack? On the wet rides and roller coasters? Do you have to hold him? Sit on him? I know at Six Flags parks they have bins to hold your loose items when going on the big coasters, but I have never seen anything like that at Disney. Do they?

Also, are there any clothes for Pal Mickey? I think it would be great to get him a little shirt or something so I can identify mine from anyone else's. Has anyone tried this? For instance, do any of the skirts from the Bear Factory fit on a Pal Mickey?

I'm guessing hold onto him real tight. There is a belt clip. I know some people have thought of it as flimsy. I'm not sure how well he would stay attached--particularly during high G rides like RnRC. Some people have used one of those bottle straps around his neck--don't know how much help that would be on that sort of ride either. I was able to hold him on my lap during Star Tours and could do the same on TOT. I just wouldn't want to risk losing him on RnRC.

There are some Dress a Bear outfits that fit Pal Mickey. Try and see. In addition, if you have a AC Moore or another type craft store, they often have bear outfits. I bought a bear visor and added a Mickey name sticker to the visor top. It is of course lime green! Everyone kept coming up to me asking where they sold the visors at Disney!

On another note, we were stopped in WOD in June by a management type CM and were asked how we liked our PM. After talking for a few minutes, he told us they were coming out with some PM clothes soon. (he didn't know how soon...) The first of the line would be a rain poncho/coat! :D
