Hi there! We're planning our third trip to Disney as a family and on the Disney website they mention Pal Mickey (an interactive doll that interacts with rides and exhibits throughout the park). I've never seen these before - has anyone purchased these for their kids? How do they work? The website doesn't say how much they cost-does anyone know? TIA for all help! Kim:earsgirl:

DD 11 bought one last May with her own money. It was $60 or you can rent by the day. The more days she rented the cheaper the rent was per day, something like $8-12 per day. At then end the rental money could apply to the Pal. Got him at hotel gift shop.

He is about 12" long and has a belt clip. Alittle heavier than standard stuffed because of "computer" inside. As you walk through turnstile each day he reprogramms for that park on that day. If he seems out of sync can go to gift shops and they will reprogram. As you walk he vibrates, squeeze his hand and he'll talk. He is triggered by different sensors all over the park. He tells jokes (usually pertaining to section, like in Frontierland they were cowboy jokes), tells you about activities, shows, fun facts and parades, the different rides you are near. If you go near water he warns you he can't get wet at all, so any gift shop will give you a bag to put over him.

I wasn't sure it would be worth it, but she loved him and we had fun all day listening to him. But we go often and the added friend with us was fun. And we will take him each time we go!

Sounds good - thanks so much for the information! We like to make our trips a little different every time and I think we'll get one for the girls this time. Thanks again! Kim::MinnieMo

Do they sell Pal Mickey at the Ocala Welcome Center? I'm thinking that is where we will break the news of our surprise trip -- although the 10 hours in the car may have clued my DD in by that point. Would he react as we get closer to the main gate, or does the location-specific stuff only start once he goes through a turnstyle?

We did stop there this trip and they do have a nice little gift shop. I did not notice if he was there - although it would be smart to sell there for the rest of the ride to WDW.

I'll bet you can call there direct and ask..................

He will not start talking about the parks until after you go through the turnstile. That is where his chip is uploaded. He will play games, tell jokes etc though. And continues to do so at home :hyper:
