I am looking at buying one for our upcoming trip to WDW. I am wondering is he worth the $$? Besides WDW will he work at DL, Paris Disney and what about on DCL?

I dont know if he works at the other parks, but he is very useful in WDW. He can tell you alot of good info like when to start heading over to an attraction or when to get a spot for the parade. He is worth the $$$

We LOVE Pal Mickey. Esp. if you have a child. Pal mickey was sooo useful in keeping her entertained as she went through WS, for example. He had plenty to say throughout the countries, as well as the other parks.

I love it, and recommend it. I am a die hard disney fan, so it was also something I just knew I had to have. And, yes, DD still likes to play with him at home (he asks trivia and plays games).

Added: He only works at WDW.

Pal Mickey's awesome. In my opinion, he's well worth the money and very cool!:cool2:

We love Pal Mickey! He is awesome. The kids love him. defintely worth the $$.

we have the original and love him...we are going to get the latest version for our Dec trip:thumbsup2

Pal Mickey is an interactive plushy with a sensor in his nose. As he passes by rides, he'll tell you about the ride waits, some fun info about the rides and he tells jokes and offers suggestions about which area of the park to visit. Even when you get home, he still plays games and tells jokes. PM comes with us on every trip.

OP, We have an older pal (red shorts) he was not very loud and I often couldn't hear him from the stroller where my daughter was holing him. I have seen others mention this also. Is the new one louder?
We will be bringing him with us becuase kids still use him at home, he tells jokes and they do like him, but it's a lot to spend just for a talking plush toy. Does anyone know if he will give us all the info the new one gives?
:goodvibes

Someone from work has the 'older' one from a few years ago and has loaned me My Pal Mickey.

I am excited but nervous I don't want anyone stealing him!

I got the lanyard but I think I need to take an insurance policy out on this little guy!

Any tips?

The batteries were REALLY hard to take out to put new ones in that is for sure!!!

I agree. The batteries are REALLY, REALLY hard to get out! We have the 50th anniversary celebration Pal Mickey. He's very cute in tails and a gold bow tie:)

We picked one up for our upcoming trip to the world off ebay.. Look forward to having the little guy show us the parks, and keep my DD5 occupied.

What size batteries does Pal Mickey take?

Our new one is loud enough. I did turn him off during certain rides so he wouldn't disturb everyone else.

Something I find cute is WDW sells different outfits for your pal mickey.

My tip for Pal Mickey is to have him on the lanyard but have also use the clip on your belt. The 50th anniversary edition came with both the lanyard and the clip. The clip takes the weight off your neck and the lanyard gives you security if he falls off the clip. I've heard of people using just the clip and he has fallen off of it without them realizing. Then you have the people who get a sore neck/back from carrying him on the lanyard. This resolves both problems. It has worked well for me during our last 3 Disney trips.

He takes 3 AA batteries. And as others have said, it can be difficult changing them.

He does not work in the other parks. My daughters took mine to Disney Tokyo so that they could get pictures of him there.

The new ones are louder than the originals.

When I first bought him, my DH rolled his eyes. However, now we can't go to the parks without carrying him with us. My DH enjoys listening to his info as much as I do. We also enjoy getting his picture in places that if we still had younger kids we would have done with them. Kids that see me with him enjoy playing with him as well.

I have heard many reports of parents having to carry them because the kids got tired of him quickly. So don't buy him thinking that the kids will carry him.

In response to the pros and cons - the only negative I can see is the upfront cost and lugging him arouns the parks - other wise he is a must have!

We purchased a Pal Mickey a couple of trips ago. We love him and can't wait to bring him on our next trip.

I've had my PAL Mickey say things during rides! I was on mansion at WDW and he said something to the extent of "Ooooh I'm scared" or something. I had to giggle.
