Pal Mickey now $60 total as of yesterday!!!

Like some other posters, I am relieved. My husband and I have been debating about whether or not to sink $50 on a Pal Mickey, especially since it has a high probablity of getting stolen. It seemed a tad expensive at $50 and, frankly, I'm surprised at a cost increase ALREADY! We've had many great vacations at Disney sans Pal Mickey, and this will just be another one!

FYI....I just read this on another site:

I can't believe it's already going up before I can get one!

All you DVCers who got the coupon to buy him were very lucky indeed!

I also cannot believe that they raised the price as when we were there just a few weeks ago they did not seem to selling all that well. In fact I went down intending to buy one and then did not becuase it just did not seem to be worth $50. In my opinion it is not worth $60 not even close.

Pal Mickey will be waiting in our hotel room when we arrive. Who cares how much he costs? DS4 will be excited to have him and let's face it we will all be interested in having a turn with him. Once you've paid your money to be there what difference does $10 make when it comes to something new. The "magic" of Disney centers on the joy and amazement on your child's face when something magical happens. I'm just wishing that they put some sensors on the cruise ships so PM can continue to entertain us after our WDW portion is over. :p

How did you get one in your room for arrival? I would love to have this for my dd when we arrive the 19th at POR. Any chance of having that happen? Thank you!!

The price indeed is $60. I was gonna get it till I got there the day after the hike but there still was people everywhere with them.

Aw bummer.... went up before I could get my hiney there to get them. LOL
or those who have several children who will all want a Pal Mickey, reconsidering their options now that he costs $60.

This was us... three children and planned on buying them each one to avoid fighting over it and such. Now I have to reconsider that- probably will just buy one, let the youngest have it until she tires of it and then let the other two take turns with it (better to not have the youngest upset -everyone is happier that way LOL).

Not that $30 extra will kill us... just something about going from $150 to nearly $200 for them bothers me. LOL (okay, so call me cheapskate... I don't care LOL)

I know one thing- however many I end up buying, I'm buying them on my solo trip in case they go up AGAIN in price. :(

Cat one- I have the same question as you..... how do you have one waiting for you in your room? How do you buy ahead and have that arranged?

I have four children, so I never even considered buying a Pal Mickey for each one. However, I did buy one over Labor Day weekend intending to use it for our December trip with the kids, and I had a blast with him! My plan is to let each child be "in charge" of Pal Mickey for one day the days we are in the parks, each taking a turn for a day. He vibrates when he wants to say something, and you can squeeze his tummy up to 5 times to get him to repeat what he's said. So the child in charge can listen first, and then share Pal Mickey's message with his or her siblings. I think we'll start with the youngest child first, of course. I think it will work out fine!

We went in May and stayed at the Tower Club 12th floor concierge at Contemporary. I contacted the concierge before our arrival and requested if possible could there please be a Pal Mickey waiting in our room when we arrived for our daughter. I provided my credit card number. He was waiting along with a Welcome back to WDW card from Mickey, a minnie beanie and autograph book and pen. We were only charged for the Pal Mickey. The concierge at the Contemporary was great! They were very friendly and helpful even before we arrived.

I remember reading that DVC members received some sort of discount on PM. What was this discount and is it still available to us?

I believe that technically it's good for another 24 hours. :)

If memory serves, many DVC members reported getting coupons at their resort for a free day's rental or $8 off the purchase of Pal Mickey. Coupon was set to expire on 9/30/03.

I really love my Pal Mickey and think he was worth the $50 or even up to $75 like others said. DH and I bought it because we are both computer geeks and wanted to see how he works:)

The only thing that bugs me is he uses bad grammar! One example- when we were in Epcot/World Showcase he said "there's lots of countries here in World Showcase." There IS lots of countries here in World Showcase??? That just sounds idiotic-esp. since kids will be using him. We hear this a lot now though. Even newscasters do it!

Does anyone know if this is possible if it's not concierge? We are going to be at POR and I would love to arrange this for her. No problem calling ahead and charging to the card but I don't know if they will do this...especially since when we first get there they may not even have our room ready. Thanks for any help!

Wow...we got ours just in time then! We bought our Pal Mickey on 9/21 when we arrived. I have to say it was well worth the $50. Just the info he kept telling my son in AK alone was worth it! He definitely learned a lot from Mickey....and so did I!!

I didn't see very many Pal Mickey's in the parks, though. A few CM's had them. They pretty much all wanted to hear him...even the characters would grab him and give him a squeeze to see what he'd say! :)

I too thought I wanted a Pal Mickey until I tried one. Last week we had two coupons to try Mickey for a day, and took him to Epcot and MGM. He had very little to say, and he kept repeating the same jokes throughout the day. (Yes, I was using him correctly.) Almost the only thing he said was, "That building up ahead is the Tower of Terror," right after we got off it. According to the instructions, he will not speak during a performance, but ours did, during 2 shows where you'd especially want him to be quiet, (Sounds Dangerous and the American Adventure.) He started to laugh FOUR TIMES during the American Adventure, and I was afraid I would have to get up and leave! I was told upon his return that he must not have been programmed correctly, but would this happen 2 times? He might be useful for kids standing in line, if they EACH had one, but even for that, the money could be better used.
