We just got our DVC Vacation Magic and it mentions this. I think it looks excellent!!!

"Beginning this spring, Pal Mickey will be available as a daily rental (for a nominal fee) or for a one-time purchase in each Resort merchandise shop in and select merchandise shops in the four Theme Parks and Downtown Disney Marketplace. Take Pal Mickey along to the Theme Parks and he'll offer suggestions, tips and of course, keep you entertained.

Pal Mickey will recommend attractions, even point our the shorter lines! He'll help you locate Disney characters in the Theme Parks, tell stories and jokes and play intereactive games. And if you've ever lost track of time, Pal Mickey offers reminders about parade and show start times, so you won't miss a minuteof the entertainment. With Pal Mickey you'll expierence the Parks like ever before"

I am so excited!!!:D :D :D

What exactly is this thing? Something like a pager system with wireless updates from a central Disneyworld computer? Sounds interesting though! Anyone have more details?

He's a talking plush Mickey. A stuffed tour guide, if you will! :) You'll either be able to rent him, or he will (of course) be for sale in gift shops. He looks pretty cute, about the size of large beanie if the picture in the Vacation Magic is accurate.

I wish they would have said how much he will be for purchase. The Vacation magic said a fully refundable $50 deposit has to be put down, so I am wondering if Pal Mickey is a $50 purchase.

Any thoughts?

I read about Pal Mickey today, too. I'm wondering if he will have the capability to be downloaded as you enter a park with all that days info and schedule. What do you think? If that is the case I would be interested in one. If he is just a talking plush with general pre-recorded info he won't interest me much. Anyone know any more details?

This sounds really neat. I didn't think that I would hesitate to get one, then I started to think about carrying him around all day. It seems that the lightest object you take into the parks becomes heavy and combersome after a few hours....of course, we'll still have to give it a try!

Of course, no one will know for sure until they are available, but since the Pals are supposed to be able to direct you to short queue, they must have some sort of real time interaction in the parks. I haven't gotten my VM yet. I do hope they are a small, convenient size to lug around the parks. A minature sized version to clip on a belt would be nice. Or a digital talking/message wristwatch type thing would be good. Maybe they'll come out with some miniature ones if they prove to be popular.

I was able to test one of these in October 2001. They asked us if we would be willing to carry Mickey around with us that day and then give our opinion, we had to sign a confidentiality agreement and then they gave us $50 Disney Dollars for testing him. The kids really enjoyed Mickey.

That sounds so cool!!!!! I can't wait - I hope it's available in December!!!!

I want one too!!! Will they be available by the time we get there in March?? I sure hope so!!!

The Vacation Magic says that from May 1st through Sept 30th DVC members will get a free one day coupon to use Pal Mickey. It doesn't say when they will first become available.

Does anyone have a picture of one that they can show us?? I just let my two boys read this thread and now they are screaming "I want one!!"

I just read Jim Hill's article on "Destination Disney". He talks about the plush Mickey as well as other potential aids for visiting WDW. It all sounds great to me. One of the best things about DCL is placing the luggage tags on our bags before getting to the airport and never seeing the bags again until they show up in our stateroom. Thanks for the link "exiles".

We will be visiting WDW in Dec and wish the free trial of Pal Mickey for DVC would be extended through then. If anyone gets to try one out, please let me know how you like it.

How cool is that!! Great job of keeping a secret, don't know how I would handle that one!!

I can't wait to get this, I will definatley be bringing him home:D

What a great idea. Hopefully they will extend it to all because with a 14 night vacation, I definately want one.,

Just bumping this up to see if anyone else has any info. Now my boys are checking this thread every few hours!!!
