Andy arrived here safely and I plan to upload a couple of pictures tomorrow. Don't worry, he's safe and sound and having a grand ole time in upstate new york!

Marti, Can't wait to see pictures. :goodvibes

Marti where are the pictures of you and Pal Mickey??

Funny you should ask - I only have a few because the battery in the camera is being charged now --- but I am in the process of uploading them now!!

Mickey did arrive safely and Matt spent quite a bit of time reading the journal and looking through the pictures:

Matt is also enamoured with taking the camera, turning it around and snapping a picture of himself. At least this time he was able to catch a little of Mickey as well!!

We buckled Mickey in for safety purposes and then went to one of his favorites stores, (no, not the Disney store - ours closed a while ago :guilty: ) but to Target to get some school supplies.

groupstuff019.jpg

Mick was in charge of handling all of the supplies - but remember, saftey first!

groupstuff021.jpg

Of course shopping tires out the best of us - so Matthew kindly made a nice bed for Mick and here he is sleeping after pure exhaustion!

We refer to this mouse as Mick - even though I believe we have Brooksie. Matt couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that they have middle names. :confused3 So to make my life a little more sane, we have named him Mick.

We have taken Mick to the beach at Lake Ontario - but no pictures because Mommy doesn't take a camera to where there is sand. You know what would happen with my luck!!

And before he heads to his next destination we will be bringing him to the historic Erie Canal (conveniently located across the street!) as well as to the local ice cream store where all the best hang out!!

And Mick will be getting ready for the first day of school in Fairport. We have not decided if he will actually go to third grade or not- Matt will make that choice. So thanks for letting us have him - we are taking good care of him and love having him as a house guest.

Cool pictures - sounds like Mick aka Brooksie is having fun in New York :)

And I love that close up of Matt and Mick!

Marti,
Those are great pictures of Matt and Mick. I knew you would have fun taking the pictures and writing about them :goodvibes

Marti -- there used to be a building/gift shops?? across from the Erie Canal in Fairport. Is that still there? I think there may have been an ice cream shop in there? and a restaurant?? memory is not what it used to be :rotfl:

When we you here last?? I'll take pictures of town to send to you... but yes, there is a building in town right on the canal that houses a couple of shops, a restaurant and our favorite place to go - Lickety Splits (aka the ice cream shop). Seems like your memory is doing just great if you ask me!!

LOL - let me tell you... we lived there in 1981. :rotfl: Have not been back since then! We loved the time we spent in the Rochester area. And one of out favorite places to go was the canal to watch the boats move through the locks. I had forgotten about that building (is it yellow????) until you mentioned the canal and the ice cream.

I'm not sure! But I'll take a picture next time we're there for you!

I promise we're taking good care of him!! He's loving New York!

I'm about to post some more pictures of his journey with us, stay tuned...

Here is Mick on the bank of the world famous Erie Canal... ok not world famous, but in our neck of the woods it is up there in famous-ness!

And Matt at the welcome sign by the side of the canal:

Elin - this is the building you may have been referring to - its called the Box Factory because guess what it used to be??!! It now houses our favorite ice cream place:

Mick was checking out the boats - this is an original canal boat that you can rent by the week. They are airconditioned inside and quite nice... but quite expensive!

Next couple of pictures in the next post to give your eyes a rest...

Mick was brought along for "meet the teacher" day at Matt's new school... they both behaved nicely!!

DSCN2467.jpg

Mick had to check out Matt's name - he gave his full approval!

The two of them in the reading corner -- lounging with their hands behind their heads and their feet crossed.... I hope Matt is not a bad influence on our pal Mick...

There is a memorial park outside of our local VFW hall and we took the next couple of pictures for our friend Paula...

To all of our service people - we salute you and thank you for all that you do.

Marti -- the Box Factory looks familiar, but maybe not the place I am remembering. The old brain is not what it used to be and I am certain that things have changed substantially since we lived in Brighton. But the Canal pictures brought back wonderful memories of that summer we lived there.

And, may I say... Matthew is absolutely gorgeous. He is becoming a stunning looking young man!

Thanks for the compliments on Matt Elin -- this is the first summer he has grown his hair. He usually has a buzz cut but he's growing up and has asked to let his hair get longer. We both said fine, as long as he takes care of it. So far so good!
